Captain Timothy Nick testified under oath on Capitol Hill on Wednesday:
"First, I want to explain my role on January 6th. I was assigned as aid to camp the personal assistant to Major General William Walker, the commanding General of DC National Guard. It was my only second day on the job (!). Please focus on alleged facts found in the November 16th, 2021 Department of Defense Inspector General's multidisciplinary review into the DC National Guard response and Department of Defense's role that day."

"I can say unequivocally that the Inspector General's Review is riddled with inaccuracies, misstatements, and perhaps false flags and narratives regarding how critical Pentagon senior officials responded when our republic was under great stress (!!)."

"For instance, during a conference call at 2:31 PM with members of United States Army, US Capitol Police, Metropolitan Police Department, District of Columbia Government, and US Secret Service Uniform Division, the US Army's Lieutenant General Walter Piatt, Director of Army staff and the Army's Lieutenant General Charles Flynn, Director of Chief of Staff of Operations were on the call." Also was Colonel John Lubas, executive officer to the Secretary of the Army."

"The Army FALSELEY DENIED that General Flynn was ever on the call. This is false and material on its face. Lieutenant Flynn was on the call and even participated in discussions. The defense inspector's review also rounds language papering over the fact that Lieutenant General Piatt, Lieutenant General Flynn, while on the call discussed how they did not like the OPTICS."

"That is a direct quote, and they stated it would be in their best military advice to recommend to the Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy, to deny the request from Command General William Walker to deploy the DC National Guard and aid US Capitol Police in restoring restoration of Order Liberty on Capitol Hill."

"In addition, former [Army] Secretary Ryan McCarthy claims he was on a two three 1:00 PM call and spoke on that call. This is FALSE, unless he was in the room shadowing the call and he did not speak nor identify himself."

"He was not on the call. He was en route to Washington, DC Regional office at the Federal Bureau of Investigation to support that agent's concept of operations plan for January 6th."

"He went on the claim that he called and spoke to Major General Walker at least twice, ordering the deployment of the DC National Guard. This is also FALSE. At no time did General Walker take any calls, nor did we ever hear from the secretary on any of the ongoing conference calls or the secure video teleconferencing throughout the day."

"This I know because I was with the Command General the entire time recording events throughout the day. Major General Walker told by staff officers to stand by with respect to deploying to the Capitol Hill. Only at 5:09 PM in the early evening, which I wrote down in my wheel book, was the DC Guard given an order to deploy and move to the Capitol to assist Capitol Police."

"We arrived too late. One American laid dead with other sisters and brothers injured, including federal and local law enforcement officers. We were ready and standing by. I know if we were able to deploy immediately, when General Walker made the request, the National Guard could have helped and civil disturbance and restored public order quickly."

"The Army National Guard motto was always ready, always there. The DC National Guard was ready to help and assist Capitol Police, but we were NOT ALLOWED to do our job due to paralyzed decision-making by acting Secretary of Defense,Chris Miller and Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy..."

"This led to a crisis in federal leadership at the Pentagon and delayed the DC response by 3 hours and 19 minutes."

Trump not only dropped the ball regarding the mob he instigated on J the 6th, but he did his damn well best to try to steal the election both before and after the 6th. Fake electors, the "perfect phone call" to Raffensperger asking him to find 11,780 votes, ETC.

The 6th was just the most visible part of Trump's attempted theft, it went far, far beyond what happened on that day.

This post by you, embracing an alternative set of facts, does indeed make common ground a hard to to achieve.

Ironic when looked at in context of your last post on the NPR thread.

I am classifying your version of the "truth" as an alternative set of facts. I could care less about the National Guard's actions that day. What matters to me is the totality of the evidence, the vast, vast majority of which shows that Trump did everything he could to try to steal the 2020 election.

You are on a fishing expedition who will give credence to your view to take the heat off President Trump.

When, the law clearly gives the lier to mobilize the DC guard to the President.

We saw President Trump mobilize the DC Guard against BLM. The generals have testified under oath on this issue.

The DC Guard is the Garrison of Rome.

The above opinion piece you posted cannot change Fed Law.

Read it.

Also, did you ever consider this man’s potential biases. Officer Biographies are full of presenting their view on the best light while down playing reasons for failure.

We know he has done bias because the position is not supported by Fed Law, recent history, nor testimony of generals.

What does Flynn have to do with the President’s authority over the DC Guard.

I do not know who this man is you quote, but he is not credible on this issue.

You need to stop it, read the law, look at what President Trump did on a similar situation with the Left, accept it, hold President Trump to account, and move on.

I watched January 6 live on television. I saw what happened. I know the President has the power to call out the national guard to help restore order . . . or just Tweet to his disciples that enough is enough. Efforts to spin January 6 as something it wasn't or that January 6 was someone else's fault frankly sicken me and reinforce the intellectual dishonesty of those doing the spinning.

No, what I think is that you are trying to muddy the water in an attempt to paint Trump's actions as somehow just.

The Guard is only a tiny piece of the puzzle regarding Trump's attempt to steal the 2020 election. It really means nothing. What is important is the failed plot that Trump put into action, both before and after the 6th.

No matter how hard you try, those basic facts remain. Trump is a lying, cheating, philandering, fraud who attempted to steal the 2020 Presidential Election. Facts.....

The thread was solely about the NG on J6.

You have now posted volumes trying to “muddy the water” on actual facts on a post about a specific event.

I guess this like you “living in reality!” Give me a break.

One of the most intellectually dishonest folks on this forum is fond of saying that some people cannot see the forest for the trees. That is exactly what the January 6 revisionists want voters to do . . . focus on the trees and ignore the forest. If they can get folks to focus on the minutia then they hope folks will forget what they saw with their lying eyes. The good news is that most folks recognize the rubbish they try to sell as trash.

They didn’t due to failure in the chain of command below the POTUS — fact.

Nowhere in that testimony do I see any indication that Donald Trump made any attempt to mobilize the National Guard.
On Jan. 6th, I did see the Rabble Rouser in Chief stir up a mob and send them to the capitol. This was just before he jumped in his car and ran away and hid.
In essence, this testimony is only an attempt to assign or deflect blame within the command structure. It says nothing about the actions of Donald Trump. Regards, Bill.

He pre-authorized the NG to go. Told McCarthy to send them if requested. That is undeniable fact.

What more do you want? The guard didn’t mobilize due to a break down in lower command — just as the Captain testified.

A lovely way of saying "I embrace alternative facts and the narrative of my choice".

How are you sure it is not the Captain who is politically motivated? None of which matters anyway, the fact is that Trump tried to steal the election and encouraged the attack on the Capital on the 6th. Those facts are irrefutable.

This is the first I’ve heard that Trump had previously authorized deployment… of course, I suspect that the POTUS authorization is required, but I have always suspected that there is a generic approval on file for urgent action when emergencies arise.

What this captain said doesn’t surprise me at all. The way things worked out showed all kinds of confusion.

That being said, Trump could have made it happen earlier if he had wanted to.

The generals failed.

Trump failed.

That the GOP voters want him again after this is really sad.

A 1949 exec, order by Harry Truman gave command of the DC NG to the Sec of Defense and Sec of the Army.
Why does the lie continue "only the president can order the DC NG?
This all came out in the congressional hearings. The DC chief of police was fired ( resigned) for her failure to get her head out of her ass. The mayor was involved in the 3 way circle jerk that ensued, and delayed the guards arrival.
Some of you are trying to rewrite history.

I think you both are correct.

Trump could have insisted the guard be turned out, but so could the underlying chain of command.

Trump failed to do his duty.

So did the mayor, the folks in the DC police department, and the generals involved.

Yes, Trump is the guy with the ultimate authority.

He failed.

But so did all the subordinates who had authority and passed the buck up to him.

It’s not only on Trump, but it is on him.

Of course, not knowing where the DC cops were, the undercover cops were, or a host of other issues like, where is the route clear to get in there.
You have never run a military style operation have you Jines? You need info to make it work, unless it's scorched earth. All of this was going on while Trump was giggling about the mob.
But please, with your vast knowledge, tell us how it would have worked?
