I don't know why that tradition prevails. I guess we Canucks just like it. I don't think about it much any more.

At the core, in some ways, we are a very different nation than the USA. That is not a value judgment, just an observation.

As you know the British Monarchy goes back to colonialism. You are admired by most for The War of Independence.

Trivia;
Gallups fought in that war. Some Gallups were "United Empire Loyalist" and moved north to Nova Scotia, Canada. Those folks are my ancestors.

I totally get respect for royalty or monarchs. I also get the idea or showing respect for flawed "rulers".

Is King Charles flawed? I'm sure. But Charles is the current representative of a system much larger and certainly much more important than his current seat.

John Adam's suggested royal titles for our POTUS. I'm glad they don't, but we've seated a pretty shocking mix of Chief Executives.

I'd bet Canada is every bit as proud of their history, kings and all, as we Americans are of ours.
