The UAE is how old? It’s incompetents are not flooding the system yet… and as a monarchist type system, getting rid of dead wood at the top will be a lot harder… not that we are doing that great a job of it ourselves.

I dunno? I think a Monarchy has some built in advantage to our Representative Republic. There is family legacy at play. I think that begs a certain consistency we don’t have.

Imagine being an allie to the USA. We change government every 4-8 years, how can say, Israel know what our relationship will be in 10 years?

Dubai is a very nice place, crime free, fantastically high standards of living, tax free, its wonderful - as long as you are an Emirati or an expat. Saeed may correct me but I think around 10% of Dubai residents are Emirati's, the rest are expats and migrant labor.

I think only about 50% of Emirati's choose to work and if they do they can retire at about 50. Its really is great if you are a citizen.

Dubai has a very astute and benevolent ruler, and its worked very well for Dubai.

That's obviously not true of many absolute regimes, including most of Saeeds neighbours.

Id still maintain that the average democracy is miles better than the average alternative.
