I'm starting to like this woman.

>>>>During a streamed town-hall discussion hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Vice President Kamala Harris offered a bit more detail on her comment at this month’s presidential debate about owning a firearm.

“I’m a gun owner, Tim Walz is a gun owner,” Harris said, referring to herself and her running mate, the governor of Minnesota. Then, with a chuckle, she added: “If somebody breaks into my house, they’re getting shot.”

The crowd laughed, as did the vice president.

“I probably should not have said that,” she added. “My staff will deal with that later.”

I hear you. Assuming she does own one...it's an over-under that she has never fired. Big Grin

Walz may be a different story.

On a different note....can you imagine trump holding or firing a weapon?

I might be wrong but I don't recall any photos or video of him shooting a firearm.

My wife would say the same thing....she's a career prosecutor who puts people in jail for a living but I have never been able to convince her to carry or even shoot one of my guns. She's not anti-gun, just not interested.

It's another reason I carry every where I go. I keep waiting for one of the assholes she sent away 20 years ago to see us at the mall or wherever and to approach and start some shit. I'll say the same thing Harris said: he's getting shot.

I am told (stand to be corrected) he held a carry permit in NY for a while that came with a competency test.

You are correct. But, NY is revoking it due to his felony convictions.

If I said that and it happened, how much do you want to bet I’d be going to prison?

In MN you are not automatically allowed to shoot a person breaking in to your home.

You need to show a number of items in order for it to be justifiable.

Things are different in Alaska. If someone breaks into your house there, fire away. Someone who breaks into an occupied dwelling is presumed to harbor ill intent to those inside.

KY a burglary is by statute a crime of violence in an occupied dwelling.

Now, the caselaw is strict and clear you cannot shoot someone trying to get back out.
The threat is leaving, go into say, removing itself.

I could articulate a FS t pattern that one could be charged and convicted of shooting an illegal entry into the home. The person surrenders, open arms, open hands, and stops or does not engage is aggression. Yet, the homeowner fires kills the person entering.

About 15 years ago, there was a case arising from Wasilla where a pastor shot two burglars in his church. Evidence at his trial showed that the church had been the target of thieves before.

The pastor shot the two men as they were running out of the door. The church wasn't occupied when the burglars entered.

An Anchorage jury acquitted the pastor of all charges. Subsequently, the AK legislature passed laws that eliminate homeowner liability in such situations. If you find a trespasser in your home, you can blast them to eternity without legal problems.

I'm guessing she cackled when she said that.
Regarding Trump, not legal for a convicted felon to possess firearms, is it?
Whatever, how one deals with an intruder is something best planned and saved for the occasion. Regards, Bill

Yes, and no,

Trump is probably barred from possession by terms of his bond.

At final sentencing the collateral consequences of the conviction will be formally imposed. One of those consequences is the transfer of firearms to Trump or Trump’s possession is both a NY State and Federal Felony.

If Trump were today as someone convicted attempt to purchase and answer that he is not convicted he would be charged w another felony by the state and Feds.

The “ban” on felony possession is making its way to the Supreme Court.

I believe after the last case a non violent felony as a bar to be unconstitutional. That has not been ruled upon by the S. Ct.

James Comer said today that Harris should be required to tell the American People what gun she has.

Isn't that directly counter to the NRA's position?

Does the same principle apply to everybody?
