Musk appears to have violated fed election law Login/Join

Musk in PA has offered a lottery of 1 million dollars or a reward of 1 million dollars to any registered voter who votes.

The problem is 52 U.S.C. 10307(c).
52 U.S.C. 10307(c) sullies in relevant part as follows:

or pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both:

This is what happens when people who think they are too smart do not ask a lawyer first.

Musk is clearly attempting to violate the above fed law by offering to pay for someone voting.

Good Job.

Best part is a conviction would almost certainly cost him all security clearances and, potentially, eligibility for government contracts.

Even if pardoned.

Like Trump he's a charlatan born on third base bragging about hitting a triple. He's never invented anything, just bought companies that did, and paid $44 billion for Twitter to turn it into X worth about $8 billion.

Genius.

Dunno.

He’s offering a lottery for anyone who registers and votes to get a chance to win. He’s not paying you to vote “his way”.

How is that different from offering something to those who have one of those “I voted” stickers like you see at times?

I get if you only give the award to folks who vote the way you want them to that there is a problem.

But I have seen free donuts and coffee to folks for voting. Seems same/same just bigger payout.

Then again, maybe there are more uncharged violations than the government tells us.

Comparing Musk to Trump is like comparing chalk and cheese. While I am no fan of Musk’s support for Trump, apparently you know very little about Musk. You can say what you want about the guy, but to suggest that he is charlatan that has never invented anything is just ill informed.

What has he invented, rather than bought the company that invented it?

He's not an engineer, software or hardware.

Maybe he deserves credit for inventing the ugliest, most useless truck ever built, the Pontiac Aztek of trucks.

He maybe a genius. However, unless he can show his statement was made in jest preferably by not taking any steps to make the money available, he violated fed election law.

Not my job to tutor you. If you are serious about learning why your characterization is ridiculous, you might pick up a copy of Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson or do a little homework using other sources . . . or just persist in making specious statements . . . your call.

I remember years ago a Dem outfit were offering packs of cigarettes to homeless folks to go vote.
They were told not to, but no recourse taken.

Want to tell me about his great success with PayPal next, where he was fired by the Board and replaced by Peter Thiel, who made it successful enough to sell to eBay?

No, he wrote some software for his brother's app, little different from what other city-mapping start-ups were doing at the time.

And I would have enjoyed my $22 million without proclaiming myself a world-class genius.

I’ll answer. Nope, I would not.

I do not care how much money Musk has. I hope he makes more. I care about politics and law. That is where I lodge my criticism.

He bought in to Tesla, inventing nothing.
SpaceX
Solar city
It's main business seems to be getting investigated by pretty much everybody with a badge.
Boring company
Far from "revolutionizing transportation" as promised it has managed to install a tunnel of less than a mile that goes nowhere in Las Vegas.
And even Twitter.

Paid $44 billion for it, now estimated to be worth about $8 billion and dropping, revenue down 84% since he bought it.

Now 16 million jobs created, stock market regularly setting new records, huge manufacturing boom bringing jobs and capital back to the U.S., all-time record gas/oil production making us the top energy producer in the world, wages up relative to inflation for the first time in decades...

SpaceX.. nearly 400 launches and fixing boeings screw ups.. again, you have nothing to compare pathetic

I give her no credit for Biden Administration’s “accomplishments.” I do believe she will continue and exceed Biden policies. Some will be successful, and some will not be.

You do realize that the Vice President is, technically, a part of the "Biden Administration", right?

One might say she's second on the command chart.

The VP has no policy directing role.

VO’s constitutional power is limited to breaking ties and presiding over the Senate.

jeffi, not long ago, claimed he never knowingly lies, and admits it when wrong.
His morals have become as flexible as any politician now. I gave proof Elon did create something, and jeffi scrambles like a cat covering shit on a tile floor. No matter how much he obfuscates jeffi is wrong and knows it.
