Bringing up a new generation of Republicans.  Losers.NEW YORK — Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway. They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery. William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used the words “n--ga” and “n--guh,” variations of a racial slur, more than a dozen times in the chat. Sickening that this is what the Republican Party has become. These people are embedded in the current Trump administration and in the staff of important GOP congressmen. Trump and the rest of the GOP have the moral responsibility to root this trash out. I'm not optimistic that they will. These people are loyal MAGA misfits. I was in Young Republicans. Before anyone starts the locker room excuse, No. First, our faculty sponsor was a great human being . This behavior would not have been tolerated. One would not wish to be in Young Republicans with him as sponsor and behave like this. Second, as young college adults representing Republicanism, Conservatism we were aware of our responsibility in the face of allegations of racism. This coupled with the small, rural college I went to made us all aware of the responsibility to present Republicanism, Conservatism. We took it upon ourselves to be better, and demonstrate such beliefs were not Republican politics nor personal beliefs. All this does is show how far the false conservative movement has poisoned Republicanism, Conservatism. Makes me sad. | |||

Look at the positions in the state party these adults had. They were Republican leaders in the campus of the state’s flag ship university. The comparison that Shy is trying to make does not carry water. And, it does not matter what others have done. That is no excuse or justification for leaders of an organized Republican entity to engage in this behavior. Their responsibility is greater than some person Shy has heard. When people tell you who they are, what their ethics are, believe them. | |||

I’d disagree that the Republican Party is where you will find all the racists. Plenty of them around in the Democratic Party as well. It just doesn’t excuse these bigots who were using a political group to support bigotry. They should be drummed out of the Young Republicans. DEI is a form of racism that is in the democrat fold. I don’t disagree that these guys are a stain- but it’s also not illegal, and how you obtain private correspondence is often of dubious legality- whether it is punished is a different matter.
