Party Favorability Ratings

Actually the Dems are at 28% favorability rating . . . while the Reps are kicking ass at a whopping 41%. Pretty clear people believe both parties suck. A choice between a shit burger or a shit sandwich.

I don't care how the Democrats are doing in the polls.

Trump is a criminal sociopath regardless.

I stand with Rolland.

The fear and hate generated around gay and trans people while lying about the economy is powerful.

I just say it. The House will be Dem in 2 years. GOP Governors are going to have a hard time.

If you want to suck another mans cock or chop off your own, do it in private and don't rub it in everyone's face. (pun intended)

This and the fact that the left want to prance naked around other peoples children, probably cost you many many votes.
Fear. Please. When you provoke people, expect backlash.

Yawn, afraid of gay people in public. Tell me, when I hold my wife’s hand in public and no one cares why do you care about them? Or better, right now the law says you cannot fire someone based on sexual sexual stereotypes. That one cannot be fired for being trans. That is no different than you not being fired for being straight.

And you have proven my point.

You are a master of being obtuse.
I couldn't care less what your sexual orientation is. Holding your wife's hand in public is slightly different from you two running around naked with your tits and balls dragging on the ground.

When you flaunt and impose your orientation onto others that's where the problem lies. And that is exactly what the left does. They do it to get a reaction and then when it happens, they cry about it.
Trans is a mental issue and should be treated as such.

I think folks like yourself are going to have to get over the LGB,......thing. I certainly have.

Gay is 10% the others are less. Special attention and special privileges for a tiny fraction of the population isn't interesting or important. Don't bother trying, I'm not for a moment suggesting all Americans aren't due all rights and privileges, it's the extra and special that I think has no traction.

Most of the country is sick of a lot of stuff. IMO, gays are way down the list. They don't have hardly any influence on the market, the economy, folk's retirement plans, international relations, the war in Ukraine, Gaza, etc., etc.

This shoving it thing goes both ways. I think the reaction from the right was mostly stoked and had little reason. IOW, it was fomented as part of the culture war, outrage for nothing but votes for a demagod.

Anyway, the OP premise:

Donald Trump's Approval Rating Is Actually Rising With Democrats

Excerpt from the article:

Christy Setzer, Democratic strategist, told Newsweek: "To quote Bill Clinton, people will often choose 'strong and wrong' over 'weak and right.' Trump is certainly 'wrong,' but 'weak and right' is about the kindest thing one could say about the Democratic Party right now.

Since the left is so psychologically feminine today, they see politics as an avenue to express extreme emotions to allay their own boredom and nihilism. The left lost the ability to emotionally self regulate and comprehend their environment. For example, keying other liberals Tesla. Teslas are surrounded by cameras and the only people keying cars used to be scorned women. The left is in a death spiral and good riddance. We truly need a competent opposition party not raving lunatics.

I do see a lot of Trump as backlash to the left’s bad behavior and relative success at being masters of incremental creep.

The GOP has flat out sucked at stopping the incremental changes.

Trump is going full out reversal trying to undo at least 60 years of Democrat incrementalism in 2-4 years.

That causes massive dislocations and sharp change anger.

Frankly, that Trump is doing such a shotgun approach is going to be the failure and downfall of his changes. For every thing he gets right in the majority’s eyes, he’s screwing up 2-3 others and the baby will get thrown out with the bathwater.

I agree that the LGBTQ stuff has been over forced. I got a mailing from one of the big LGBTQ+ medical clinics. They bemoaned that 95% of LGBTQ+ folks can’t get gender affirming care (meaning hormones and surgery) in their local clinics. Think about that. That means contrary to the academics, this is not settled medicine. That the vast majority of doctors don’t feel comfortable with providing that care… and I can guarantee it’s not because they are all transphobes.

Strange how we are going back to segregation now on the part of certain minority groups?

What is DEI but institutional racism just at a different target?

Seriously, keying Teslas is your example?

Trump is pissing off a lot of folks by making massive attempts to undo a lot of the incremental changes over the last several decades. Some of these changes are now much more mainstream than they were when they were first placed.

Tariffs used to be the almost exclusive source of revenue for the US government. Now they are almost an afterthought. Trump trying to single-handedly revert us back to tariffs being a major revenue source is not particularly popular and since no matter how smart you are you can’t foresee every consequence (and I will grant that Trump and his advisers are nowhere near as smart as they think they are) are playing with the economy at a basic level. Since most politics are economically driven, he’s really likely to kill his support.

Somehow I think you think my post was supporting Trump.

It isn’t.

Pardon me please. Smiler

The way I look at tariffs is they are like a national sales tax on consumer goods and the raw materials to make them. The ratio of expenditures by the middle and poor is loaded where the ratio is light on the rich. So the tax burden is regressive.

I think that's the intent.

Coupled with the notion of bringing back mfg infrastructure maybe in two or more years, mass firings and gutting labor unions, for cheap labor, I think the intent is plain to see.

And I think it won't work, assuming we retain the ability to vote and it counts.

After all the accusations that the leftists are acting out of emotion, it's the MAGAs turn to actually do it.

I doubt that anyone has done the math necessary to model the 100-day changes to the economy.
Not short-term, not long-term. Just reaction. A thin majority is not a mandate, and it won't last.

More like "we won, now we rule". Nah-Nah-Neh-Nah-Nah.

I am saddened by the republicans who go on about how happy they are that the libs are going bonkers.

What is Trump doing that is so good?

Shotgun tariffs that cause huge dislocations in my 401k that he says are happening then are not? How is this helping anyone other than day traders?

It’s appearing like he’s doing the whole tariff thing on the fly, rather than having an actual plan.

I am happy he is doing something about illegal immigration, but when I hear he’s shipping out citizens or green card holders, that worries me.

When his foreign policy looks more like Israel first not America first, that bothers me… especially when he doesn’t seem to care about other allies. Saying crap about article 5 and NATO? The guy is not consistent.

I like that he’s dismantling DEI, but that’s not being done consistently.

DOGE is a good concept… but what actually is happening? Not much other than sound bites it seems. Blanket declarations of USAID being bad… ok… I kind of buy it, but where are the specifics and what is being done specifically?

Trump may have a big picture idea, but face it, the details are where the work is needed.

Yes, he does have several big-picture ideas. Most he has harbored for many years.

Do you think it's odd that he appointed so many utterly incompetent people to implement? Their main qualifications are loyalist. I can't off-hand think of an exception.

The "details" seem to be mostly focused on power and authority to jam his ideas through.
