Saeed,
The parties don’t divide us. They just represent the dividends.

Traditionalist (mostly rural small town folks) just have nothing in common with Progressives (urban people). They are as different as day and night in the majority of topics.

The People are divided.

There is very little difference between a poor and rural white child living in poverty, and a poor urban African American child living in poverty.

America belongs to all. America is not so small as to only provide life, liberty, justice, and freedom to those who agree with Dr. Easter.

Our constitutional system allows for more. If you are compelled to be a cowboy, be a cowboy. If you are compelled to be a gay person, be a gay person. If you are compelled to be a gay cowboy, best of both worlds for that person.

The public sphere can and must accommodate.

If you want to preach in your little club gay people are abominations or an anti gay parade not paid for w public dollars. Knock yourself out. No, our civil and criminal laws can not be permitted to allow that tyranny of religious stupidity to return.

Here is a perfect example!

How the hell can this happen???

We lived in many different locations.

First thing we always do is meet the neighbors, and make sure we are on very good terms!

We are having our neighbors over for dinner tonight!

We are in Switzerland up in the mountains!

Neighbors stay with us when they visit Dubai!

From different countries!!

We have an old saying in Arabic.

One can never do enough for family or friends!!

It depends which news source you read. There is a lot more chaff on X than Reuters. Equally there are a lot more people who ignore the real news and just consume what reinforces their existing opinions, and opinions, often dressed up as facts, are exactly what you get a lot of on X.

Im not interested in opinions, just publish the facts and I will make up my own mind.

We have recently suffered a bout of riots / civil disorder after posts on social media designed to inflame the right wing knuckle draggers we have on the fringe here did just what they were put there to do. Hence people chucking bricks at targets with had nothing whatsoever to do with the spark which set it off. All because they read the bits of X put their by people who want to maniplulate others and the "others" just use it to validate their existing opinions.

Your reductionist view is laughable.

The issue is more than philosophical. It is based on ethics, values, legal principles and even the fundamental foundations of a civil society.

The divide in US society and even global society is nothing new. It has been around for a very long time.

It is between
* Freedom & totalitarian oppression
* Middle class / poor & Rich
* Community interests and Selfish individualism
* Truth and fake propaganda

You are never going to go back to the Texas of the "good old days" when you could lynch blacks and have a drink with your friends after.

As I have said many times in the last 10 years, the US is currently around 50% non white population and by 2032 elections the voters will be majority non white.

Freedom and equal rights will be barnstorming all institutions and foundations of civil society.

There will be problems, conflict, greed for power, corruption by the rich and the usual stuff. But "rural traditionalism" will be extinct. Am foot note in history.

Republicans ran that behavior out of the country when they passed the Civil rights act of 1964... you might watch Mississippi burning to see a dramatic presentation of stripping democrats of their racial tyranny.

Sorry, but it was LBJ and the Dems who passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It's certainly true that there was significant opposition from southern Democrats but you clearly need to look at the numbers in relation to the actual voting in the Senate so you have an understanding of who was actually responsible for passage....and it wasn't the GOP.

>>>>With six wavering senators providing a four-vote margin of victory, the final tally stood at 71 to 29—27 Republicans and 44 Democrats joined forces to support cloture. They were opposed by nay votes from six Republicans and 21 Democrats.<<<<

And, if anybody was responsible for the passage of the act, it was LBJ. I seem to recollect he was a Democrat.

There you go with your lies again. The Civil Rights act was passed by Liberals and not by conservatives. The conservatives opposed it. The conservatives lynched blacks well into the 2000s. They still do. The conservatives supported slavery and flew the confederate flag in the Capitol on Jan 6th.

Don't you dare claim any credit for the virtues of freedom and liberty when you support and defend servitude and oppression. barf

Since you claim the the White conservatives "still lynch blacks" there should be a plethora of easily stated cases to link as examples.

Please bring receipts, as wild claims are scoffed off as exactly that.

I think I can handle the Truth, mostly, when I see it, and opinions too, and non-truths too.

I don't see anything profound in your post - just another opinion stated as truth. And besides, I don't know WTF you're talking about.

Do you?

===========================================

Edited:

OK, with a little research I see where you got that info.

https://www.washingtonexaminer...the-best-biden-ever/

‘The best Biden ever’

(Note that this article isn't headed with the word "Opinion", but to significant degree it is opinion. It is however backed up with quotes, some of which are opinions, and some facts.)

Also:

Opinion: Biden’s obsession with the sycophantic ‘Morning Joe’

=========================================

So I presume that you're saying that Joe Scarborough won't be receiving honors from the National Press Club either since they don't issue honors for hype or political sycophant - yet. Smiler

But ole Joe can reap some viewership from honoring those who do receive the journalism awards. You won't see that on Fox.

After his "let's make a deal", interpreted as "kiss the Ring" visit to Mar-a-Lago, ole Joe needs all the help he can find. Smiler

========================================================

All this brings up another facet of the theme of the OP -- "the future of accurate reporting". The comparison is the information dissemination, not the same as "accurate reporting", on Musk's X platform, with the information (dis or mis) spewing on Fox, with real journalism elsewhere. When appropriate, practically all the MSM articles are headed up with the word "opinion", except Fox. Musk's X is wide open except that which he or his algorithm chooses to censor and lies, propaganda, hate and love, all in the same pot with whatever truth may be there. I don't partake because I figure it's not worth my time to sort it out, if it can be sorted out. I figure that those who partake in X are not into sorting out truth, but affirmations are what they look for. Truth is null.

So, in part my point is that Fox's info spew model is very successful. The ratings tell the story and I'm sure they make a lot of money. Accuracy is not the priority. That has to be a powerful corrupting influence on the section of MSM who value real journalism. We shall see if they can stand the test.

The day that Hannity or Carlson or Musk, for examples, receives an award from the National Press Club for Journalism is the day that we know the transition to fascism happened at least a year before that.

They are the antithesis of Journalism and ethical reporting in general. They are tablodal in comparison to real journalism.

Letting their BS into your head will make you sick in the head, or sick comes first then the affirmations.

What was it you said?
Your reductionist view is laughable.

Republicans ran that behavior out of the country when they passed the Civil rights act of 1964... you might watch Mississippi burning to see a dramatic presentation of stripping democrats of their racial tyranny.

But, if your basis is that every White Conservative American is a member of a lynch mob, well you are watching too many movies

Jeff, I fixed your quote to fit Naki's narrative.

Saeed,
The parties don’t divide us. They just represent the dividends.

Traditionalist (mostly rural small town folks) just have nothing in common with Progressives (urban people). They are as different as day and night in the majority of topics.

The People are divided.

Rubbish. That is what the nutter right wing media that you seek out to confirm your world view tells you.

Americans have far more in common than we do different.

I work in politics quite a lot Steve with the DFW office of the GOP and the OK GOP. At least in Texas and Oklahoma…what I stated is 100% fact. It is driven home in every set of survey data I have reviewed. If you don’t see it…either, you don’t look, it is different in CO, or you are tone def.

The GOP only has one message, the sky is falling, it's all the Liberals fault and only Trump can save us.

I don't roll that way. I seek solutions to problems, compromise and do not see those with opposing political views as my enemy, nor do I view civil war as inevitable like Musk does.

Don't you tire of viewing the world through such a negative lens?

All I said was that there is a divide in our country getting wider each day and unlikely to come back together. That division is philosophical in nature and reflects the difference in vision between the Urban Progressives and the rural/small-town Traditionalists.

All you have to do confirm this is look at county map of the usa....the vast majority of the blue is urban!!!!

Too bad cows and grass do not matter.

If GOP believes that making everyone where their is population is a long term victory strategy, times are going to get sad indeed for the GOP.

A 2 percent swing in 3 states and Harris is president right now. Keep playing like you have all bullets.

Trump, Trumpism, and GOPers are going to fix it so a voter pendulum swing doesn't matter. They already have a running start at it.
