I wish is statements, his beliefs, would have become Doctrine.

Conclave will be interesting as Francis appointed a larger number of new cardinals from areas of the world that would otherwise never have a cardinal.

RIP senior Bergoglio. It seems SOP for politicians to meet him, sadly very few represent the values he stood for.

Praying for a Congolese is tantamount to treason nowadays! Are you sure this guy you’re praying for isn’t a murderer or a rapist?

The next thing you know, he’ll be trying to get into the U.S. and you know what happens when you let those ‘whiny furriners’ get too uppity, especially the black ones!

I’m not Catholic. Who leads their church means nothing to me.

Africa is a rapidly growing Catholic region. I hope that Christianity in the region continues to flourish. Having and African Pope would certainly advance the agenda.

I am not Catholic either.

Well said. I am not a believer but I have great respect for him and many of the values he represented. I was sad to read the news.

Yeah, the Church needs another conservative who will fiver up more child sex abuse, and shrink the Church’e influence and membership.

But hey, like I said, I am not Catholic. They can do as they wish.

Except Christ said nothing about Abortion and such things.

Except the early Church has women deacons.

You are right that Jesus did not say anything about abortion directly as abortion. However, there is a lot of implication of it being wrong.

He also said things to indicate that regardless of your sins, if you admit error, beg forgiveness, and believe you will be forgiven.

As to women deacons… in some places, yes.

But unless I missed something, women priests and pastors are a modern thing. Say what you will, at least historically female ecclesiastic authority is not a thing in the Christian church. While there are inferences in the Bible, it’s not spelled out because the church structure did not exist until after Jesus was crucified.

The procedure was known to that works and the Old Testament, and not a word.

Actually, before the Counsel of Nicaea there were a lot of female “pastors.”

Females preach in the New Testament.

Again, the early church had female deacons in Judea.
