School vouchers are a government-funded voucher redeemable for tuition fees at a school other than the public school that a student could attend free. In other words, Texas taxpayers will now pay for Elon's 14 spawn to attend expensive private schools....should he so desire.

For fucks sake....... It is school vouchers! We all pay school taxes in Texas, to the school district we live in. If we "choose" to send our children to a school in another district, or a private school, the funds follow our children. How is this a bad thing? If the area we live in has under performing or unsafe schools we can choose to send our kids to better schools. The wealthy have always been able to pay for private schools, now the "not wealthy" A better able to get their kids a better education. This also creates competition for students to hopefully make our underperforming schools better.

Yeah, Jeffersonian public education is far left. Got anymore lies for us. The government using our tax dollars to prop up a private firm. When we did that for the auto industry, you complained. My “public education” was near complete before there was a Dept of Education…back when we were allowed to pray in school right before the pledge. Public schools today are a totally different kettle of fish. I support school voucher programs and charter schools to give parents freedom. Public and private sectors working together is not a new concept…hence the space program l. Bailing out auto companies who made poor decisions is nothing akin to school vouchers. And Elon is NOT even taking voucher money making this whole thread a hypothetical idiotic discussion…but then again…look who started it. The only lie I see is the “Elon WILL get…” statement. I have supported, donated to, volunteered for and paid taxes for Dillingham Alaska public education for decades. I have an 8year old in school and recently mentioned some real concerns and problems I see in the school with a long time administrator. The immediate reply I got was pretty much a"go fuck yourself!". They told me if I was so dissatisfied I should pull my kid out and homeschool her. Hours and days and decades of solid backing from me and that's what I got. You know what? I suddenly like the idea of school vouchers. I like the idea of my blood, sweat and tears going to an institution that actually appreciates it and most importantly is employed in the education of my kid. Dillingham is known for its sports program, specifically it's wrestling program. Not that is particularly good nor does it produce many athletes that continue with further careers, but that's whats prioritized. I have no interest in my kid wallowing around the floor playing grab ass with other sweaty little kids. If we had a local parochial school she'd already be in it, school vouchers or not.

FIRST, educate yourself on how Texas school taxes work -- uninterested in how they work in other states, as this isn't the subject - SHORT answer, school districts keep 1/2 of the taxes, send the rest into the state, where it's distributed per student - second, let me know when you have kids in a crap school district, due to housing costs, and would like YOUR taxes going to educate YOUR kid -- my youngest went to private school, without vouchers, as the school system in the districts nearest us are CRAP - they are meant to house bodies until they can "go to college" - I'd like to have not double spent on that, is her education impacted many things down stream - getting a portion of that back from vouchers would have been GREAT - and no, not a religious school, as that's not what we wanted for her - -- Todays? straight A at UT Austin, after being first in her high-school, and able to either apply AP credits or CLEP out of classes - and I am still driving an older car, because I didn't want her to take on student debt --- you aint got no dog in the fight, not in Texas, no kids, and never had no kids -- it's a local matter--- that you don't like it? that's cool, don't raise your kids in Texas opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? You've danced around his point--deliberately, I assume, since you're not stupid. We have a public and individual citizen's duty to educate the generations that follow us. All members of those generations, not just a select or fortunate few. LHeym's point is, why should public funds, in the form of vouchers, pay for a private education just because the parents CHOOSE to send their kids to a private school? I thought it was Republican policy to let people look out for themselves--not look to government for handouts.
|

Then give them a tax credit for not using the system for their child while their child is of school age. Your point assumes all public schools are equal in all regards…as you are not stupid…you know that is not the case. Who knows best whether the local school is good for their kid or not — parents or the government? I hope you say parents. People pay to have the generations educated. If they choose not to use the public system for their child…they should get to use their money for the place their child is educated by while that child is being educated. If we had a department of education, the Federal Legislature could pass a law directing a grant to families to use on private tuition. Assuming such could get the votes. I would probably vote for it. This action is not conservatism nor capitalism. It is the attempt to see a long standing fundamental right. The right to an education. Yes, it is fundamental and long recognized. This is noting but an attempt to transfer public funds that make that fundamental right a reality to a private firm(s).

Obviously not as your political Trump Vicar declared support for public education as envisioned by Jefferson far left in modern American politics. Obviously you do not as you are willing to allow millions of public funds, taxes, raised at the local level to support public education (the life blood of the right) to be given away to private firms in conflict with the traditional, historically conservative role. It always amazes me how cheaply folks will sell their rights. Or in this case, the rights slot others as pointed out, you two have complete lid your public education.

Actually I do. Property taxes and Fed funding based on attendance Yes, they will. When a child moves from public school to this private firm with its tax dollars per child. That public school system loses that funding. Done a lot of advocacy on this issue. All states and local public schools receive funding based on students on that school. Thst is why schools cancel for sickness. When the student body drops so low, it cost more to run the school then to close for the day-week.

you don't, you prove it later in the post, - I don't know how other states do it, and have no say - HISD - look it up, houston INDENPENDENT school district - the district sets the rules for teaching the STATE setsthe rules for funding and it's like arguing how to drive a stick with someone that's never SEEN one - no, it doesn't - jesus, it's a FACT, not an opinion and you prove it, AGAIN -- if the child (say, my youngest) exits the public school system, for ANY reason, the mony doesn't go to the school district -- i think the lawyers say "the calf follows the cow" you are making assumptions 1: that the kids would go to a private school - not always 2: that the "kid's spot" would be funded, it wouldn't 3: if a kid leaves the district, then there is potentially a HIGHER teacher"student ratio but not in Texas, you don't understand the system, or funding allocation - I D C what advocacy you have done in another state, the topic is TEXAS and performance - but you are confused as to how school districts are done in TEXAS -- and even HISD knows that each school isn't fungible with another school, even in the same DISTRICT we dont cancel school for "sickness"
I am tired of trying to educate you on this 1: you are uninformed on school funding IN TEXAS 2: you are uninformed on school DISTRICTS in Texas 3: You are uniformed on school PERFORMANCE, even in the same district, IN TEXAS 4: Not matter how it lands, it won't affect a SINGLE person outside of Texas 5: when we were starting out, I sold and bought another house, in another district, as they had better schools -- that was PAINFUL on the finances, and it was literally less than 4 miles on the move, because, back THEN, the school district taxes all stayed with the district -- it's "fairer" today- frankly, you CHOOSE to be underinformed on the topic and your opinion, while valuable to you, is unimportant to the outcome or results You aint got a dog in the fight, sit back and watch the show and yeah, this is yet another case where Texas IS special - done talking about it with non-parent, non-Texans opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? The money allocated towards school vouchers ought to be used to improve public education. Texas has billions of dollars in surplus that could be spent on this but instead the governor and the legislature decide to widen the gap between public schooling and private schooling. It doesn't make any sense. We ought to be spending money on improving the quality of public schools. Salaries for teachers, money for infrastructure, etc.

The whole system is underpinned with every mines taxes. Beyond that funding from the Fed is based on kids in the building. You are a fool. Remove the tax base from public schools. Those schools fail. You can cuss all you want. That does not change anything. The tax is for the school system. It is not the parents money. It is the assessment to find the school. I pay it, and I have no children in a school. The allocation la from the Fed are on taxes we all pay. Thus, Your assumptions and conclusion is false. You just want to see public education destroyed. Public funds given to a private form. That is not capitalism, nor the Jeffersonian model that was debate over 150 years ago that funds public education. It is neither conservatism for that reason. However, we have seen how you are a Marxist w your support of Labor Value Theory. Your profanity is not an argument. Your assertion that the parents’ control the money or have more money is false. We would have to look at the individual property tax. I pay a lot. That and my fed taxes pay for the fed money that comes based attendance. That is why states care about attendance so much. This also underscores the need for the Department of Education to distribute these funds. We Weill ignore federal funding and requirements for Special needs children made necessary bc states were being irresponsible forcing Fed legislation. Oh, I forgot. Only the laws Jtex approved of should be followed. Anything else, a single branch of government is free to ignore. I have finally found pity for you. Your anger and hate diminishes you. I sincerely hope someday you can intellectually and morally grow. I know you will probably not do that. But while there is life, there is still hope. I’m not angrier by you. I feel smarty at a men who knows nothing in a world Duke called the best, “Life is hard. It is harder when you are stupid.” Jtex, stop listening to things you agree with. Set aside your preconceived notions. You want to know what a Narxist is read Marx writings on Labor Value Theory. If you agree Roth then. Do be it, embrace it. Stop saying things like precedent is not law. Read the cases you have been provided over the years. Read law review articles on legal questions you have. As far a state permitted discrimination of gay people in the public sphere, I do not know what to tell you, other then learn that they are just as much a U.S. Citizen as you. To that end, you cannot be fired for being straight. Go read what happened when we tried to combat tariffs when the Great Depression set in. It is all right there. I am not the one saying it. History, historical precedent stands to be recognized. I suspect you will not. That is okay w me. I cannot save you. You have to be the one to do the work. Until then, I am sorry you chose to stay in the Cave.
