Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the Trump administration is taking care of business for North Carolina residents hit hard by Hurricane Helene.

“President Trump came in and visited this community, and in less than 20 days secured over $54 million for families in need and registered 2,600 families that needed assistance and hadn’t gotten that type of help to get signed up for the programs that we have,” Noem said in a post on social media platform X.

“In the past five days, we’ve decreased the number of open cases by almost 80 percent,” she said....

Personally, I am way more for state's rights than wasteful and usually fraudulent feds. Maybe I will have a different opinion with this president. Time will tell but again, the smaller the fed the better to me. On top of that at least these people are seeing some help. I know you don't care about them. Most liberals don't. Since no appropriations have passed and been signed into Law IF this money went to N.C. it can only have been pursuant to a funding request by President Biden.

I've researched it and I can't tell from the reporting what is true. After a simple Google search, I found this quote:

Trust me, I am in favor of giving North Carolina every penny they need in federal funding to recover from Helene. My wife was born not 25 miles from where the most damaging flooding occurred. The reporting I'm seeing indicates billions of dollars of federal aid have flowed into the state. Is that not correct?

What's the specific claim that FEMA wasn't doing it's job before trump came in and started quacking about it?
