"We are at war," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a televised address, declaring a mass army mobilization. "Not an 'operation,' not a 'round,' but at war."

I assume you are referring to the $6 billion in Iranian funds that were released to Qatari accounts for food and medicine?

None of those funds have been spent, we are able to monitor them under existing sanctions, but thanks for trying to spread another Republican lie.

No, but Russia buys drones to attack Ukraine from Iran, and THAT money may well be passed on to Hamas...

That's rich coming from this forum's foremost purveyor of easily-disproven bullshit.

What would you like proof of, that the sanctioned funds are still under sanctions or that Russia is buying Shahed drones from Iran?

Next we'll see the new word Republicans learned this week used, "All money is fungible" to imply that the money becoming available for humanitarian use frees up funds that were being spent for food and medicine to be redirected to Hamas.

Which overlooks the inconvenient fact that funds weren't being spent for food and medicines, THAT'S WHY THERE'S A NEED FOR HUMANITARIAN EXCEPTIONS TO THE SANCTIONS!

And the US has no Ambassador to Israel because Republicans in the senate won't approve one.

400 Senior Officers in the US military are being denied promotions because of holdups by the Republicans. How is the US military getting hurt long term if we are needed somewhere?

And aid to Israel is being held up because there is no speaker of the House because of Republicans.

Republicans just last week refused to fund Ukraine which is attacked by Iranian rockets paid for by Putin.

But go ahead Ann, blame Biden!!!

It's time to take the leash off Netanyahu and let him level every building in Gaza that Hamas just used to launch 3,000 rockets (from Iran) to kill Israeli citizens.

Imagine Mexico sending in 3,000 rockets to Texan cities? What would we do? I know.

What a way to celebrate the Yom Kippur War. The Arabs never learn. Fuck with the bull, get the horn. Israel needs to level most of the Gaza Strip. There will simply never be peace in this region until Hamas and Hezbollah are systematically destroyed.

I think blaming everything in this conflict on Republicans is silly besides inserting politics in it in first place
I do agree that Gaza simply needs to be moved to Jordan or Egypt and be done with it

No money was released to Iran, either you've been lied to and believed it or you are yourself lying.

quote:
Moreover, US officials have made clear that the funding, which is Iran’s, not from US taxpayer dollars, is not under the control of the Iranian government.

Brett McGurk, White House coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, said Monday that “no funds are going to Iran at all.”

“These funds are paid to vetted third-party vendors for food, medicine, medical products and agricultural products to go into Iran over a period of years. If there is any diversion, we’ll know it and we’ll lock up these accounts,” he told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead.”

At some point folks are going to want to know how Israel could have been so completely caught off guard.

What's supposed to be among the premier intelligence networks in the world, in a region known for sneak attacks for thousands of years, and a known enemy plans and carries out an attack of this scale without you seeing it coming?

Our sanctions against Iran have always had exceptions for food, certain medicines, etc. The funds in question now being held in accounts in Qatar can only be used to pay authorized vendors of authorized items, mainly international NGOs.

The United States generally tries to avoid making war, economic or otherwise, against children and the sick.

What do you all think of this:

Russia calls for immediate ceasefire
Story by Henrik R • 11h

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news...7b69738f7190bd&ei=29

In a recent development, Russia has urgently called for an immediate ceasefire. The Russian Foreign Ministry made the announcement, emphasizing the need to de-escalate the ongoing conflict.

"The situation in Gaza is deteriorating rapidly, and we call for an immediate ceasefire," said Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry according to AP.

She further added, "It is crucial to prevent further loss of life and to ensure the safety of civilians."

The call from Russia comes amid escalating violence in the region, which has led to numerous casualties and widespread destruction. The Russian government is urging both sides to halt hostilities and engage in dialogue to resolve the conflict.

According to Zakharova, Russia is deeply concerned about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza. "The international community must act swiftly to provide aid and ensure the well-being of the affected population," she stated.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also highlighted the role of international organizations in mediating the conflict.

"We believe that the United Nations and other international bodies should be actively involved in facilitating a peaceful resolution," Zakharova said.

Israel Bombarded: Kremlin’s Strategic Maneuvers Cast a Pall Over Ukraine
Story by Ben Evans • 4h

ISW Unveils: Russia Strategically Exploits Hamas Attacks on Israel to Diminish Western Solidarity with Ukraine.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) illuminates Russia’s adept utilization of the recent ferocious Hamas assaults on Israel, orchestrating informational operations to attenuate U.S. and Western advocacy and focus towards Ukraine. Expert analysis implies that tailored narratives have been disseminated with a particular emphasis on curtailing military support for Ukraine and sapping the morale within Ukrainian society. Furthermore, the assertion that Ukraine will encounter a dwindling of international backing is also strategically designed to assuage Russian domestic audiences, insinuating that global endeavors towards Ukraine are ebbing.

Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, has advocated for the U.S. and its allies to channel a more substantial focus toward fostering a “Palestinian-Israeli settlement” and concurrently diminish their interference in Russian affairs. Concurrently, he has expressed critiques concerning military aid to Ukraine. The ISW discerns that the Kremlin is navigating a clear objective of diverting the international community’s gaze from Ukraine and is intentionally transposing media interest towards the discord in Israel.

The ISW notes that on October 7, an array of Russian information conduits precisely fixated their reporting on the turmoil unfolding in Israel, a development that could potentially recalibrate the informational landscape concerning the war in Ukraine in the ensuing days or weeks. Numerous Russian military bloggers have predominantly centered their content around the occurrences in Israel, and a universal appeal has emanated to others to “retain focus” on the conflict in Ukraine. Within this narrative, the ISW underscores that the precise impact of the Hamas offensives on Israel upon the informational ecosystem remains indeterminate at this juncture.

Hamas makes most of their own, some with 100 miles of range. They developed the capability a few years back when it got too hard to smuggle Iranian rockets in. They now make several different versions.

The bright spot is that they have little control of them after launch, but that will likely change, given time.
