I'll stick to written info, and can verify the writer.

I feel the same way about video clips. Plus, it's hard for me to find the time to watch them.

I screen them and post only those that get to the point.

The last two are good examples.

Often they are easier to watch than the written script to read.

With youtube, there's ads, but they can be skipped. There is a "share" feature where the video can be sources and the ads are skipped in the link if I do it correctly.

Verification? These videos are not anonymous. Cherry picked? That's a null point because that can be done whether written or video. Yea, I cherry pick - to stay on the premise of the OP - that's all.

Finding time? yea. Screening takes time, either way, video or written.

IMO, if you can find the time to be here in the first place, then if you read only those posts of pure opinion, no backup, like those of TB40, and exclude links such as news and videos, then that's ok but you miss a lot of info that goes beyond opinion, supports opinion with facts and evidence.

I tried it just now.
I got the spinnie wheel thing. I think that means slow downloading. I clicked out after a couple min of waiting.

I bought a new and faster computer last year. That alone didn't solve the slow youtube connection. It was annoying because there were so many pauses. My old computer was probably 7 years old.

So, also, about six months ago I changed internet provider from dish to fiber optic, supposedly high speed. They ran new lines throughout the countryside here. The price was way better, and it is fast.

Now I can stream movies too but haven't tried it thoroughly yet. So far my smart TV is smarter than me.

When Trump first said he was running again I posted I hope he doesnt get the nomination. My worry was he would focus on retribution not running the country.

Where I have for 2-3 years now. I’m not voting for Trump.

Is it relevant that Trump would like to be dictator? Sure.

Is it likely that he would become such if elected? No. I’d say it’s as near certainty as possible no.

The man is an embarrassment. It’s embarrassing that he’s the presumptive front runner.

It’s also embarrassing that Biden is currently in the White House. It’s embarrassing that Kamala Harris is VP. It’s embarrassing that MTG and Boebert are in. It’s embarrassing that the squad is in.

It should motivate us as voters to do a better job.

However, I’m not holding my breath underestimating the communal stupidity of the US political system.

Curious to me that all the past supporters of Trump on AR now publicly disavow the man and indicate that they will not vote for him . . . yet at the same time his polling numbers remain high. Sort of makes you wonder if there is not a large contingent of closet Trump supporters . . . too embarrassed to publicly acknowledge that they support the immoral bastard but dumb enough to vote for him yet again.

I’ve got to wonder about that as well.

Better people have to run. Casting aside trump and DeSantis I'm not sure who in that crowd I'd back. We'll have to see as time and primaries thin the herd. Some of them aren't electable regardless of their stance on various issues.

These "news" medias aren't making this stuff up. It's a "read my lips" thing. Trump and his allies are telling us what the plans are. The so-deemed leftist medias are just reporting it.

The stunning thing to me is that it's presented as a campaign promise or goals and the supporters are all for it. They think it's the Right thing to do - pun intended.

It's a well-developed and well-funded plan with coordination of many orgs. It's been in development for a long time. People like Bannon and Flynn have contributed.

If fully implemented, and Trump is POTUS, then he most certainly will be our first real dictator, especially if the House and Senate flip to GOP.

That being the goal, whether accomplished or not, should be shocking enough. It will not go away just because and if Trump goes away.

It's akin to planning a crime, sorta like the 1/6 thing. Whether actually achievable and actually achieved is, at this point, not as important as the fact that it's clearly the goal.

Some of the 1/6 participants were convicted of criminal conspiracy, even though their goals failed. That's what this is - a conspiracy to revamp the branches of Govt. so that it operates as authoritarian ------ presumably to accomplish all the goals of the Right, and to thwart the "evil" left, aside from Trump's revenge and freedom and wealth.

It's actually act two of the same goals intended on 1/6, just deeper and more developed in both means and end, and with impunity.

As far as poll numbers go.
The last few cycles have show the polls dont mean shit.
Polls are only as good as the questions asked and how diverse the polled group is.

Authoritarianism expert Ruth Ben-Ghiat warned on Wednesday that when Donald Trump talks about obliterating and then politicizing the civil service and seizing control of every aspect of government if he wins back the White House in 2024, he really means it.

“Nobody is ever prepared” for an authoritarian takeover of their country, Ben-Ghiat, a history professor at New York University and author of “Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present,”

“They think they are going to be the exception. They don’t listen to the warning signs until it’s too late,” she continued.

But Trump is actually “being very clear” with what he is saying, said Ben-Ghiat.

Last week, a New York Times article said Trump would seek to expand presidential authority “over every part of the federal government that now operates, by either law or tradition, with any measure of independence from political interference by the White House.”

Ben-Ghiat cautioned: “Authoritarians always tell you what they are going to do as a kind of challenge and as a warning, and people don’t listen until it’s too late.”

If Trump wins election again, he will “be finishing the job that he started, and by the way that’s not just destroying democracy internally,” she added. His other main aim was “to take America out of the realm of democratic internationalism and align it with autocracies. That will happen as well.”

I dont dismiss them. They are suppose to be done by respected companies. I'm saying we cant count on it to happen the way the polls show. I have no idea why, the polling companies dont like being wrong either.

Most polls nowdays are done by news groups… to sell headlines.

Face it, with all the telemarketing going on, how often do you think they will actually get a representative group to respond?

I get all kinds of polls. Most likely to get a response? Email. Most email poll requests? Actually fundraising. Answer one and to submit your answer the political group asks for a donation. I donated $50 to Trump before his first election. Ever since I’ve gotten continual bombardment of requests for more saying I’m in the top 1% of donors, and Donald needs my help personally…. Despite me telling them on the phone no way.

The GOP ones are a bit more nuanced as they apparently put me in the no Trump bucket, and use other folks names asking for donations.

They hang up when I say “I will donate once you get rid of Trump” but still… it’s getting to not answering the phone.

OTOH, my work phone gets regular emails/texts/calls from democrats… same methodology.

Both sides are all about money.

The “scientists” are too. NEJM, AMA, etc.

When you get dunned to support AGW and sign your name as a scientist by the AMA, you know they have lost the plot.

The funny thing is they still do the AGW stuff occasionally… but they NEVER asked the rank and file about Covid…

No Labels is currently organized as a centrist advocacy group, not a political party. West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, a conservative Democrat, appeared at a No Labels event in New Hampshire this week, fueling speculation he could emerge as that candidate.

Biden isn’t facing a serious challenge for the Democratic nomination, and polls show Trump as the clear frontrunner in the GOP primary.

I agree. But to have a viable 3rd party more people have to be willing to take your approach instead of having the attitude that not voting D or R is “throwing away you vote”. Seems to me voting for someone just because of who they are running against is the epitome of “throwing away your vote”.
