Nuts. I know we have a lot of "diversity" here but is there anybody that thinks this is a good idea? “They're 97% against ‒ they give me only bad publicity or press," Trump claimed in a Sept. 18 gaggle with reporters aboard Air Force One as he flew back to the United States from the United Kingdom. "I mean, they’re getting a license. I would think maybe their license should be taken away. It will be up to Brendan Carr.” https://ca.news.yahoo.com/trum...oking-194807205.html

The guy is not understanding it. The government can’t compel “fair treatment” of public figures. This is a problem that he thinks he can force it.

News agencies should get out of the business of having an opinion and get back to a Joe Friday approach — just the facts. Some news agencies do spend 97% of their time bashing Trump. Why not just lay out what he did/said for the day and leave it at that…NO opinion…let people think for themselves. Yeah I know, stupid idea…people thinking for themselves and all! ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. And where do you get the power to decide what opinion a private entity can broadcast. Opinion? Like, the hacks from Twitter you post.

I dimly remember typing this in the forum, long ago. "Don't give Bush powers that you wouldn't want Hillary to use." Substitute Trump for Bush, and maybe Kamala or AOC for Hillary. Be damned careful what you wish for... TomP Our country, right or wrong. When right, to be kept right, when wrong to be put right. Carl Schurz (1829 - 1906)

Exactly. The right has been on the receiving end of the stick in the past. Unfortunately, Trump in his prepolitical days was someone who got mostly positive press. He thinks he still deserves it.

You don't know what you're talking about. Newspapers have provided opinions to readers in the US since before the country was founded. TV, as long as it's existed.

However, newspapers used to confine opinion to the editorial page for the most part. Remember the jingoistic approach was rightist back in the early 20th century and got us the Spanish/American war. The biggest editorial issues back when were more choice of what factual article to post, rather than how to print it. When my grandfather graduated with a journalism degree the average graduate wanted to make the reader more knowledgeable. Now the average journalism major goes in to it to make a difference in the world. Big difference in outlook.

I have to disagree. Newspapers have taken sides, selectively reported facts, and expressed opinions outside editorial pages since the beginning of the American press. I don't think the editorial page was conceived of before the 19th century. Newspapers have been used by their owners to whip up sentiment for war, to preserve slavery, and to glorify gunfighters. All on the front page. In more recent times, look at the selective coverage given JFK's assassination by both press and TV.

There is no longer any NEWS reporters. All we have now is OPINIONATED IDIOTS. And the politicians are at the top of this list. Trump created his very own TRUTH SOCIAL. Which is any but! ![]()

Agreed 100%, but politicians should also stick to the facts (rather than numbers they just pull out of nowhere) to justify their actions. Trump is a complete stranger to "facts", and his supporters are apparently oblivious to this.
