This time it is the insulin pricing cap. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/06/0...sulin-price-cap.html As I recall, the only thing Trump did for us was to tell us to shine a light up our asses so we wouldn't get COVID; or inject disinfectant. And then there was his Hydroxychloroquine recommendation. The MAGA doofus is a genius alright. https://www.theguardian.com/sc...s-global-study-finds

Trump put in voluntary price cap at $35 for part D. He put it in an EO to begin Jan 2021.
Biden froze the EO when he came in to review it. It was then put in place.
This is all old news. Do you guys ever fact check anything?

Here's a fact check for you:

quote:
Social media posts claim US President Joe Biden took credit for lowering insulin prices after reversing a similar action from predecessor Donald Trump. This is misleading; Trump approved a voluntary program capping insulin costs at $35 for many seniors and issued an executive order that was never implemented, while Biden signed a law mandating low prices and encouraged pharmaceutical firms to limit costs for all diabetics.

Jeffi, it was voluntary implemented, I already said that. He had an EO in place for Jan 2021.
Biden froze it, before he signed it.
Yes Biden approved it, Trump already had it in place. To hard for you to understand?
Biden did not pull a novel idea out of his ass. The $35 number was even the same Trump had set up.

Not a single person ever got insulin for $35 because of Trump, and almost every Republican voted against the legislation that expanded it beyond just Medicare Part D.

Jefffive’s reporting is that Trump never implemented the 35 dollar executive order.

I also watched committee hearings on Cspsn over insulin prices. GOP members repeatedly blocked measures to stop allowing patent extensions through legislation that caused the price of insulin and other drugs to be artificially high.

Certainly not hands off, fair market competition from the Right.

Now, did Trump not implement the order bc he did not have time bf leaving office? That becomes the question. If the answer to that question is yes, them he should have made it a focus much earlier in the term.

I know he was too busy.

Trump signed the EO in July of 2020 to take effect on January 22, 2021, after the inauguration.

Biden froze ALL pending rules from the Trump Maladministration that had not yet taken effect on his first day.

So Trump did not implement the policy timely.

It is common to freeze the prior administration’s executive orders. Then roll back on those the new Chief Except feels are appropriate in due discretion.

Trump had plenty of time bw 2016-2020 to get the Order implemented. That is given a year or two leeway for Congress to screw it up.

Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a new report showing the major savings coming to people with Medicare thanks to the $35 cap on a month’s supply of insulin. Thus, Trump whining:

quote:
“Low INSULIN PRICING was gotten for millions of Americans by me, and the Trump Administration, not by Crooked Joe Biden. He had NOTHING to do with it,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “It was all done long before he so sadly entered office. All he does is try to take credit for things done by others, in this case, ME!”

Was, in fact, all lies.

There are no records of how many people took advantage of the part D plans to get the $35 a month insulin. So the millions is BS.
But it was offered in the part D system, for whoever signed up for it.

Was that for ANY Part D plan or just those with a Medicare Advantage plan? I don't use insulin FWIW; in fact I have the opposite with hypoglycemia.
