Is to be called a Republican In Name Only and a Democrat In Name Only.
These RINO/DINO "epithets" (consider the pathetic and deplorable scum who think these labels hurt) suggest that you are in reality a thoughtful, decent, independent-thinking moderate person who approaches social and political problems with pragmatism and common sense, seeking to SOLVE the problems and advance the COMMON interests instead of advancing screwball extreme party platform agendas at the expense of the majority of us.
I think I need to have some bumper stickers made.

Paraphrase that- we’ve got the best politicians money can buy, on both sides of the aisle. The difference is the right fringe are bigger lunatics. But but, but, it’s his policies! cuckoo 2020

Yes. I am a republican. My fiance is a Democrat. Neither party represents us. Hence me being a "loon" as my friend MJines calls us with my RFK vote.

From what I've seen, I have to declare RFK a loon.

I'm looking forward to a three-way debate...but as I said before, I think Trump will punk out, just as he dodged the GOP debates.

The guy is wacky, i wont deny it. At this juncture i cannot support what either party has put forward as candidate. Hence the third party thing. At least he seems like an honest crazy to me. I am not dumb, he wont win. I live in CO, which will go Biden. Its really more of a protest vote.

I would ask that people consider this before they cast a vote in protest.

I voted for Gary Johnson.

In protest.

Was lambasted in this forum because people didn't think he was a strong advocate of the 2nd.
Was called worse things than a loon by Repubs AND Demos, l.o.l., seriously, these idiots today need to up their game, buy a thesaurus for God's sake, if you're going to insult or demean someone put some effort into it. Loon, l.o.l., but I digress.

I explained that I'm not a single issue voter and that the other candidates weren't acceptable.
Blah, blah, blah...

Long story short he lost.

BUT, he came very close to garnering the percentage of the vote needed to qualify him to recieve matching federal funds were he to decide to run again.

I think this is important because RFK Jr. may crack that percentage threshold in this election.

That would be a tangible consequence of your protest vote.

RFK Jr. has recognition and isn't going to fade away into the woodwork like Johnson.

Frankly, that bothers me because I have never cared for RFK Jr. I do not think he understands the weight his words carry. He has spouted things during his career that lead me to believe he has an authoritarian streak a mile wide. That makes him a non-starter for me.

I won't be watching the debates. All 3 are equally worthless. I would rather set my foot on fire and put it out with a hammer.

All of this has me thinking about Former President Washington's farewell address, in which he voiced his concerns about the trappings of a two party system, and how palpable those concerns are today.

LHeym500, I think I will ponder voting "present" as well...

Well, present is probably better than “Bill the Cat” which has been my protest vote of choice.

Ty, I voted for Governor Johnson as well.
RFK is a mess, but he is interesting solely because his name is not Trump or Biden.

I also voted for Governor Johnson, and I'm not sorry I did.
A whisper of protest is better than being buggered in silence.

Biden/Trump, again? We're supposed to take this seriously, and vote like we mean it?
I quote Hunter Thompson yet again, as long as we are willing to vote the lesser of two evils, the evils will get worse.

RFK has yet to attain maturity, at 70 years old (but me too, maybe).
If he's elected, the rest of the Kennedy clan will get up and help him do his job.No worries...

There is a near zero chance of RFK being elected.

True, but I know a whole pile of Republicans planning to vote for RFK or Nicky Haley. Neither will win but I am sure hopeful that the protest votes are enough to stop Trump for being elected.

Pretty much sums me up. I voted Haley in the primary. I see polls that RFK pulls more from Trump and the next one says he pulls more from Biden. WE will see. If he can get into Perot territory this could get very interesting.

Granted, and my point was arcane, but those Republicans & Democrats who would never vote for him otherwise need to understand that in the end there is a better chance that they will end up empowering his run in 2028, when in my opinion, after another 4 years of the status quo, he will have a chance.

A fox is different from a coyote and a wolf too.

Would you hire a fox to guard your henhouse just because it's not a wolf or a coyote?

No vote is a wasted vote, even if the one you voted for didn't win you have still cast your vote and its been counted.

I will play the devils advocate here. In reality Trump or Biden is going to win. If you cast a protest vote to a 3rd party or mickey mouse then you are depriving one of the two morons running a vote. Although that may make you feel better you are actually helping one of them win. So even thought I intensely dislike both Biden and Trump what one do I think will do less harm to the county? If you are like Lane who believe Biden is evil incarnate, then you would not want to do a protest vote. The same can be said for people who think Trump is evil incarnate. I know it is bad to have to vote for the lesser of two evil but at least you get to have your vote counted one way or another. the only reason to not vote for one of them is you can at least say "I did not vote for that asshole"!

I see a vote, my vote as my co-signing, acquiescing, to the candidate, the campaign, and the policies of the candidate. In a word endorsing the candidate.

I cannot endorse President Trump.

He may win. If may not be duly removed pursuant to due process set out by the Constitution. Thus, he will be my President.

As for President Biden, the book is still open. However, I have strong objection to his implementation of the Afghanistan withdrawal.

I blame Congress, and mostly the GOP, for the border.

I believe the economy coming out of the pandemic is about as good as it could be. I do not buy it would be significantly better under President Trump.
President Trump’s stated policies would make costs higher.

I believe interest rates were too low, for too long.

I have standards and it's just that simple.

As an American and a neighbor and a parent there's no way I'll subject my child and neighbors and fellow countrymen to, "the lesser of two evils".

I will not, WILL NOT! put myself in the position of having to explain my support of candidates so inept and morally bankrupt as the likes of Biden, Harris and Trump to my child, relatives and neighbors.

If the political leadership wants my support they need to make better decisions, I lay responsibility squarely in their lap.
