There is a godawful lot of noise lately. I do consider "flood the zone" to maybe be the strategy. The idea is to waste the resources of dissidents on issues that draw the faithful but have no effect. Her comments about Alligator Alley are prescient. There were American citizens exiled to Manzanar, and this precedent was upheld. That's a thoughtful below the surface post, Tom. I think it's another way of saying what the theme of this thread is about. Remember all the knee jerking in Trumpism I, how the media gave Trump what he wanted in response to his "fake news" and "enemy of the people" assertions? Trumpism II is the same but different.  Dissent and having no effect don't necessarily mesh. Dissent to Trumpism is inevitable, and to large degree it's by design. There would be no us vs them if not for dissent. The issue, or problem, is winning despite dissent. What's the strategy? Dissent is practically worthless without being informed and perspective and truth. I see many sources working on that. IMO, that's the solution presuming the vote still counts. ================================== The term "prescient" refers to the ability to know or suggest correctly what will happen in the future. I’ve always enjoyed James Carville. I can and do disagree with him, but agree with him from a strategic viewpoint often. I was at a dinner where Carville was the keynote speaker o remember this line he delivered, “I am a radical, but it does not matter if you don’t have political power.” In 2020 he told MSNBC: And now it’s like we’re losing our damn minds. Someone’s got to step their game up here. We have candidates on the debate stage talking about open borders and decriminalizing illegal immigration. They’re talking about doing away with nuclear energy and fracking. You’ve got Bernie Sanders talking about letting criminals and terrorists vote from jail cells. It doesn’t matter what you think about any of that, or if there are good arguments — talking about that is not how you win a national election. It’s not how you become a majoritarian party. For (expletive) sake, we’ve got Trump at Davos talking about cutting Medicare and no one in the party has the sense to plaster a picture of him up there sucking up to the global elites, talking about cutting taxes for them while he’s talking about cutting Medicare back home. Jesus, this is so obvious and so easy and I don’t see any of the candidates taking advantage of it.
