Musk is being used as an advisor. Soros was funding an entire movement to destabilize this nation. Both economically and socially.

So in your assessment, Musk working to attempt to make our bloated federal government more efficient, and Soro's funding BLM riots, radical DA's that use the law against their political opponents, is the same. . . Noted.

Both Soros and Musk were NOT elected.

They shouldn’t have so much influence!

The Trump administration has already acknowledged the DOGE has no statutory authority and is nothing more than a think tank of analyzing and recommending government largesse.

U.S. Senate time
The 90th Congress was notable because for a period of 10 days (December 24, 1968 – January 3, 1969), it contained within the Senate, all 10 of what was at one point the top 10 longest-serving senators in history (Byrd, Inouye, Thurmond, Kennedy, Hayden, Stennis, Stevens, Hollings, Russell Jr., and Long) until January 7, 2013, when Patrick Leahy surpassed Russell B. Long as the 10th longest-serving senator in history. This short 10-day period stretched from the appointment of Ted Stevens of Alaska to fill a vacancy, to the retirement of Carl Hayden of Arizona early the next year. The 107th Congress (2001–2003) was the most recent one to contain the top 7 longest serving senators in history (Byrd, Inouye, Leahy, Thurmond, Kennedy, Grassley, and Hatch).

The 99th Congress (1985–1987) and the 100th Congress (1987–1989) were the periods in which most people from this list were serving together (all but Hayden, Russell Jr., Warren, Eastland, Magnuson, and Shelby in the former and all but Hayden, Russell Jr., Long, Warren, Eastland, and Magnuson in the latter).

These arguments always make me wonder why it that folks living in foreign countries are so focused on U.S. politics.

My M-I-L in Germany feels it is her duty to inform me constantly how much she hates Trump. I tell her she should come over, get her citizenship, and then vote her conscience instead of endlessly whining.

Why do they care? I couldn't give two hoots in hell who the president of Brazil is, who is Prime Minister in England, or who the Crown Prince for UAE is. Why? Because I don't live there and have no citizenship there.

It must be TDS.

It shouldn't be very hard to work out that what goes on in the US affects all of US, but the reverse isn't true. You are the world's biggest economy, if you have a problem then we all do. Remember 2008?

By your thinking, everyone should be deeply involved in Chinese politics as well.

I get that the US affects others. I get that our media is consumed worldwide and thus everyone gets political op/ed intended for US voters.

What I don’t get is that anyone who isn’t a U.S. voter thinks their opinions are particularly relevant to US politics.

Unfortunately SOROS has a offspring.
The comical part is that his son married the “Wiener Boy”ex NY congressman Anthony Wiener’s ex wife Huma Abedin. Huma Abedin worked for and is good friends with the Hillary Clinton.
Seems the Democratic “Weiner “ boy was charged in Federal Court for transferring pictures of his dick (obscene material) to a minor. Weiner was sentenced to 21 months in the Federal Pen.
Can’t make this shit up.

I’m interested in Chinese politics, as I am in Russian politics, such as they are, and in what’s going on in Europe.

It’s what’s happening in the US and Europe that affects me the most, why wouldn’t I have an opinion on them. That I don’t get a vote doesn’t make my thoughts any less valid, or indeed possibly accurate.

At the end of the day, this is an internet forum, so anything said here matters not one iota.

Granted, everyone gets an opinion but the arrogant M-I-L I referred to actually believes that her opinion will affect how I vote. Sorry, "Mom"...it doesn't work that way.

I have met many a Brit who thought the same way- their opinion should influence how I vote.

Where do people get their ideas.

Im the only person in my household who doesn't get a vote in the US elections, but how my wife and kids vote is up to them.

The secrecy of the ballot is necessary to the integrity of any free election.

I have never asked my wife who she voted for nor her asked me. The same w everyone else.

I also have no issue with folks saying what their positions are. That includes their position on a candidate.

So the story goes.

Seriously Man, Trump has created two new agencies now? More?

Last time we got Space Force, this time we get DOGE. Has there been more and what next?

Government departments can actually audit, budget and manage themselves if tasked to do so. My interpretation of all this is that Trump isn't capable of that kind of executive leadership and so is now creating a new, an additional government department.

We're to believe these campaign and political promises and slogans? That's really the plan? Roll Eyes

Doc Lane mentioned my cynical viewpoint the other day. He's right and ,....well,....yeah,.....

well, i aint saying they can't be compelled - but i can tell you they have failed repeatedly with the current level of compunction - therefore, rather than repeating the einsteinian level of insanity, perhaps trying something new might produce different results

My preference would be to fix what's broke rather than leave it broke and attempt a new and untried alternative.

Trump's choice for Secretary of the Treasury worked for Soros for 15 years.

I think the insinuation is that the DOD and other government departments have "gone rogue" and that it'll take an outside contractor or influence to fix it.

If we hire Trump or Obama or Truman as CEO and they are unable to reign in rogue employees don't you think we need to hire a different CEO?

General MacArthur went rogue and Truman fired him plain and simple. Very appropriate I think.

Trump could do the same, "Pass the DOD audit or I hire a new DOD. Cut your budget by 10-20-30% or I hire a new department head."

I find it impossible to believe that any of the business leaders here would allow their employees or businesses to fail audits or budgets repeatedly and say, " oh fuck it, I'll hire an outside contractor to cute my financial woes.".

The Federal continues to grow and grow, without anyone looking to see if we need all these unproductive people meddling in the economy and society.

It is about time someone took a look at all the laws, regulations, and activities the Federal Government has created, and decide if they are fit for purpose. I will bet, 99 % are not.

One law of the bureaucracy is that Bureaucrats create work for other bureaucrats. What we have also seen in recent decades, is how bureaucrats create work for businesses and the general population.

Parkinson wrote a great book on bureaucracies "Parkinson's Law" and in it he noted how the British Naval Bureaucracy increased exponentially as the number of British warships decreased by half. Bureaucrats do this by creating un needed internal work, that requires manpower, but the effort has nothing to do with "mission".

Government managers never really have to justify the number of people under them, and their budget is essentially infinite. Empire building is a skill, and we need someone to topple and eliminate a whole bunch of bureaucratic empires.

This is not something limited to Government, private business gets this way, but the self corrective measure of profitablity will eventually cause an examination of over head and staffing. I remember a GE story about Jack Welch. Jack Welch found that the boiler man who turned the temperature up or down on the boiler, had to report to three different Vice somethings, before he could get permission to turn the dial. In this GE division, there were layers of useless management positions all stacked on top of a few actual productive people.

And as we have seen in Universities, such as Stanford, the number of University administrators has become equal to the number of undergraduates. No doubt they are all busy with their hobby jobs, but nothing they do actually benefits society. As long as the money keeps rolling in, administrators will keep on expanding.
