Doc,
My doctors office called, I hadnt been to see my GP for over a year, and needed a tetanus shot.
So I went in. The place has 4 exam rooms. I was always taken to room 4, as it is set up as, to be blunt, a fat room. My 18+" biceps need a big cuff to get a proper reading, so they take me in there.
I was surprised when the nurse said all rooms have both , reg and oversized cuffs now.
I asked her, with so many people taking ozempic for weight loss, will it keep being a problem.
All I got from her was " we will see"
Even though it' is expensive, wouldnt it still be cheaper if all obese patients were put on it? Obesity has got to be extremely costly over the life of a patient?

If every fat American( over 40% of the population) was put on Ozempic, there would none left for the diabetics it’s designed to treat…. rotflmo

Supposedly copycat versions are available cheap on AliBaba or maybe Temu. You can buy no questions asked IIRC.

They have to reveal the structure in the patent so it's not unrealistic to expect a competent lab to be able to reproduce it.

Use at your own peril.

it's all the rage in my office building - apparently there's a "compounding" formula that's also available, for about 1/3 the cost, if no insurance or insurance doesn't cover it .. seems to work for the "customers" ...

My point is, even if paid for by the state or feds for the uninsured, it could be a savings if it cuts obesity.

Are the Feds supposed to pay for any complications that the uninsured encounter? It's not guaranteed safe.

There is a product available called skinny-fiber that's about as effective. Available via Amazon. Kinda works by bloating you so that you don't feel hungry. Like any other regimen how you eat after is what determines if the pounds you pack off stay off.

You have to remember that obesity, smoking, etc. just change your relative risk.

It’s not a guarantee. Some folks who maintain ideal weight die young of heart disease. Some obese folks live to over 90.

It’s all risk. It’s not causative.

Then ozempic doesn’t guarantee weight loss. You can eat your way through it. Seen plenty of diabetics do just that.

Ozempic helps. It can cause folks who overeat just because of hunger get back to ideal weight… but unless you change your lifestyle and work at it, your weight will go right back up once off of it.

It also improves risk for heart disease in and of itself… but who knows what using it long term does for things like cancer or autoimmune diseases?

I do know some folks don’t like how they feel on it, so there is that as well.

What is the old saying… there is no such thing as a free lunch.

I buy cargo pants from Amazon.

I have 30 inch leegs.

When checking some of what is on offer, 32 is the shortest legs they have.

BUT, waist goes up so much I can fit three of me in!

Many decades ago, there was a weight-loss pill that was guaranteed to work. Tapeworm...

Saeed,
I have the opposite problem, if I go shopping for pants everything seems to be for short very round people. Try to find 32x36 pants in any store, I always have to mail order them.
