A Republican House member introduced a resolution to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow President Donald Trump — and any other future president — to be elected to serve a third term.

Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee introduced the measure days after Trump was sworn in for a second non-consecutive term in the White House.

The 22nd Amendment currently bars anyone from being elected to more than two terms.

A Republican House member introduced a resolution Thursday to amend the U.S. Constitution in order to allow President Donald Trump — and any other future president — to be elected to a third term in the White House.

Trump "has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation's decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal," said Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee, who proposed extending the current maximum of two elected terms.

I saw that coming.

The other interesting thing Trump might try to pull off would be to engineer some domestic and foreign crisis, then declare martial law for an unspecified time.

Show me where they introduced any resolution led or bills to make it a reality.

From the 14th Amendment, Cabinet picks, to this the Trump party not a full week in has already made a great case for why these people cannot be trusted w power. They are doing everything that was warned.

It is governing like a mules.

Some of us care more. Some only care about their oil based stock prices.

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea like M Shy indicates is worthy of ridicule.

YTF does he think that there's an energy crisis? Before he could declare that, he'd have to prohibit U S refiners from exporting diesel and gasoline so that there would be more for us.

He must believe in management by crisis; if one doesn't exist then create one.

This has a very good chance of achieving its purpose, which is not amending the Constitution.

Ogles is very likely to be in need of a pardon before Trump leaves office, he has serious campaign finance trouble coming, this is just a high-profile way of stroking Trump's ego that he will remember.

The Constitution sets a minimum age. He is a long way from so qualifying.

Minimum age and he's barely halfway there.

Well, at least the guy admits it needs an amendment.

Even if it gains traction, it won’t get done before Trump is out of office… so it is pure pandering.
