It seems there are loads of non elected officials who get involved in politics. Take your pick for any one of the umpteen donors to Trumps campaign who have been given ambassadorships or other govt appointments as a reward. Don't appoint the most qualified person to represent the interests of the US abroad, just give them out to anyone who has payed up $500,000 or whatever the threshold is. | |||
