I read your link. It's about how both parties are headed for a budget fight.

Your characteristic attempt to blame only Democrats doesn't fly.

Does it? Chuckie said the passed house resolution was dead on arrival in the senate.

Threat to the country? Hmm, the house controls the purse strings, now, don't they?

It's already passed the GOP house and the head of the senate, a dem, said nah...

Literally over something YOU said was a nonissue.

Hmm, I know it stings, but does it also leave a mark?

Am I the only one who has no more patience for these continuing funding stop gap measures?

I am not saying shutdown the government, but it is beyond ridiculous we cannot get an actual budget so we do not run into this every 3 to 6 months.

You were right then.

The problem is without being willing to shutdown the government, i do not know how to force these derelicts to do their job.

Well, I know one way but it is impractical. It being a constitutional amendment that a budget must be passed.

It would take a Speaker drawing a hard line, “we either pass a budget or shutdown until we pass a budget.” Now, if that were to happen the longer a shutdown went the less likely a budget would pass and a CR would get passed.

Those who do not want a budget or want to negotiate in bad faith could run out the clock.

I do not think we will ever have a budget.

And, by the way, it is a non-issue in the sense that people not eligible to vote rarely do. But, the GOP recognizes it as a dog whistle that gets the Republicans all spun up, it lets them talk about it incessantly and that will be good for Republican turn-out.

And round we go.

I would vote for a CR but only after losing a very long hard fight to pass a budget.

It appears to me these chuckle cluckers have not even tried to hammer out a budget after passing the last CR. Now the man is on the gallows, and they are trying to get the governor on the phone for a stay.

What is going to change between now and 6 months of funding to get a budget.

The Congress no matter how it breaks will be by thin margins.

The whole premise of the OP title is a lie.

It's not the dems who are threatening to shut down govt insisting on paring the SAVE Act with the funding bill.

And most importantly, it's Trump pushing it, using MAGA Mike.

For sure it's not about actual election integrity.

Republicans threaten a government shutdown unless Congress makes it harder to vote
Story by Ian Millhiser • 16h • 5 min read

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), egged on by the House Freedom Caucus and by former President Donald Trump, reportedly wants to use this deadline to force through legislation that would make it harder to register to vote in all 50 states.

Johnson plans to pair a bill funding the government for six months with a Republican bill called the “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act” or “SAVE Act,” that would require new voters to submit “documentary proof of United States citizenship,” such as a passport or a birth certificate, in order to register to vote.

I'll guess that the nub of the issue is requiring proofs of citizenship that minority voters don't generally have.

The truth is, when Obama was president, Republicans stubbornly blocked any attempt at a budget, whether it was a good budget or not and whether it was in the interest of the country or not. There is a marked tendency for both parties to vote strictly according to party lines. Their brains, if they had any in the first place, are checked at the door. Regards, Bill

Oh, stevie.. your comments always add such value.. here's your gold star

You certainly seem to have a good deal of first hand experience with behavior modification strategies, and then profound denial of your needs

I guess you are speaking from experience on special diet and meds, as it's not me calling a stranger on the internet every nam in the book and being a pathetic, laughable hothead... you might see your doctor and admit you aren't being medically comlliant... how did you say it " a diet can control anger outbursts in children"? Wasn't it? When will you be getting back on it

If words in the internet mget you to say things you would not say to a person's face, you might have anger issues and poor impulse control....

What did you call me over a typo, when you thought I was engaging your juvenile actions?

Hmmm , red flags much?

What's the matter? Getting lonely? Have to find someone else to exercise your nastiness on?

You should talk, about saying stuff to people on the internet that you'd never dare say to someone's face. What a keyboard warrior you are!

Anyway, the states have always had the right to determine how voting occurs within their own borders.

And now you want the feds to take over and dictate voting to the states. Better figure out which side you're on.

Happy to meet and have a conversation, honey... let's arrange a time and place. Not a threat, just to show you I am the same person I person as on the Internet, though, arguably, more articulate...

Honey, though you do need make up your mind... when I respond in kind, your panties get in a twist one way, when I reply with kindness, they get twisted the other

I don't curse people out, I don't play silly emotive games, and I don't threaten violence. Where are you "morals" when you see those actions at me, or are you just a keyboard hypocrite?

Oh, wait, what part of this conversation do you see that you were engaged in?

Did you spend more than 2 seconds typing your response? Or was that whole little thing a lie?

I can bring cookies and warm milk, and we can meet before your bedtime. I'll even join you and simple for an early bird dinner

Still unable to address the thread issues, eh? It's all about you.

I don't care to meet you. I dealt with enough mean, abusive people in law practice. Not willing to give them the time or emotional energy anymore.

You're either as mean and abusive in the flesh as you come across here, or you're not--which would make you a keyboard warrior. Either way, I'll pass.

Oh, honey, I started this thread... where you haven't been on topic... again, allow me to refer to this cool device, been around for ages... in English we call it a mirror

You could, for example, out me on ignore..it might make you feel better...

Again, warm milk and a cookie might help...

An HONEST man would have asked Steve to stay on topic, but you have an axe to grind, and it apparent in your life, you are the one telling others how to act... sucks when someone tells you to take a hike, doesn't it? Seems to be a trait of people used to being in control and able to assert their will on other persons... yeah, applies to me, too.

The offer is open, when you are feeling froggie, let me know.... and I could even bring pink milk for you.. my youngest grandkids seem to like that as a treat

Oh, wait, you think I am mean or abusive? Mean I can see, as it depends on one's POV, ad I don't suffer fools lightly.. abusive? Aww, libbie tears, crying " words are violence" you are such a precious, tender soul...

The phrase you are looking for is condescending to the hypocrites and liers

But it's a trait we share, precious
