Well sure. Then and now I wouldn't think id want to go there to hold hands and sing songs. A "failed state" 700 miles from my American dollar is a threat to my way of life. Not quite. They may have had some choice at first, and they do have a choice to apply themselves seriously to treatment; but it’s not really a willingful choice after they are addicted. Not all the addicted were voluntarily taking the first dose, either. I think we're going to be pushed into it, like it or not. The sanitization of using puppets half a world away has left us blind and obtuse to our doorstep. We've saber rattled for decades, "over there!" In our lifetime much of central America and a good portion of south America has descended into chaos while we hand wring over Ukraine, Somalia, RSA. "Golly!!!! We just have to help those misbegotten Libyans be free!!!!".  If we're not old enough to have done it ourselves we've heard the stories of casual, care free trips down to Mexico on holiday and how nice it was. No more. Haiti and a few other Latin American airstrips are obviously available for attacks of several different kinds on America. Id guess we can go there now with the Marines and secure the beachhead or in a little while someone will suggest a nuke for pacification. | |||

Haiti, like Mexico and Venezuela and others is available for a price. I believe Cartels, Terrorists and other criminals can use Haiti to their advantage against the USA and West. You are correct, I should not be so dismissive. That said, with a broken border, dying industrial capacity and being outpaced on the naval front by our biggest adversary, I just feel that an intervention in Haiti is alot like watering the plants while the house is on fire.
