If they approved such a rule they couldn't have local Party meetings or a State convention.

So let me get this right…somebody saw somebody talking to somebody and they decided to try and pass a rule restricting the freedom to speak to whoever???

What fascist-types even proposed such measures!?

I would tend to agree that it is way too vague and is probably unenforceable.

It certainly would have issues on a constitutional basis.

I thought the country learned a while ago that McCarthyism was not where we wanted to go.

And now its the left pushing McCarthyism.

So condemning BLM and ANTIFA was patriotic and commendable but condemning Nazis and the Klan is McCarthyism?

No, but passing a law/rule with specific consequences is.

You want to call it Nazism that some guy spoke with a suspected neo Nazi, that’s fine. The press shows a picture is fine.

A rule about it, no.

If the official IS a member of the Nazi party, I’m all for publicly stating so, especially if it’s true.

But some sort of witch hunt based on expecting you to know what your neighbors political affiliation is…

What a perfect example of how fucked up you and your party are right now. Can't bring yourself to agree that associating with Nazi's and White Supremacists ought to be out of bounds.

Especially interesting in light of your holier than thou comments about criticism directed at Israel in that other thread.

“I just don’t understand how people who routinely refer to others as leftists, liberals, communists, socialists and RINOs (‘Republicans in Name Only’) don’t have the discernment to define what a Nazi is,” committee member Morgan Cisneros Graham told the Tribune after the vote.

House Speaker Dade Phelan similarly condemned the vote Saturday evening, calling it “despicable.”

The Texas GOP executive committee “can’t even bring themselves to denounce neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers or cut ties with their top donor who brought them to the dance,” Phelan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “There is a moral, anti-Semitic rot festering within the fringes of BOTH parties that must be stopped.”

Right. Because nobody knows who Nick Fuentes is or what he spews. 2020 Another ridiculous false equivalency.

Love your use of the phrase "witch hunt" too. Wonder where that comes from? Roll Eyes

I’m not from Texas.

I had to look up who Nick Fuentes is.

Frankly, I doubt I would recognize him even after reading that.

Considers himself incel. Can’t say that’s something a normal person would admit to.

F***ed up is banning freedom. That is how f***ed you are. You willing to allow the simple liberty of speaking to some one to be banned. Disgusting!

Get a clue.

I am not defending associating with Nazis. I am defending not attacking people when they probably don't know everything about someone they meet.

Heck, lots of good liberals LIKED Hitler in the early 1930's.

So they should be drawn and quartered in 1942 when we get into a war with them and they sign up for the Army?

Its impossible to reasonably write a ban on association with someone. Its a lot easier to write a ban on acts.

You are such a blithering idiot. This has nothing to do with liberty or freedom. Morons like you would still be free to have dinner with Nazi's and white supremacists even if the ban had passed. There was no proposed penalty that I can find. It was a policy statement designed to address the fallout from the Nick Fuentes publicity. You know, to try to make you people look like you understand that it's not a good look to hang out with and accept donations from Nazi's and White Supremacists. Instead, you come on here and double down.

By god, nobody is going to tell you that you can't have a nice chit-chat with a Nazi or a white supremacist! It's your right!

Idiot.

Idiot???

You want people who you don’t affiliate with (or even like) to pass an unenforceable rule that carries no consequence solely for the improvement of optics.

I am comfortable that most can sort out who the idiot here is.

The Constitution chalkiest parties to exclude specific members. Those cases are posted somewhere on the 14th Amendment Bans President Trump thread.

Oh, and Dr. Easter, someone did not just see someone. The Texas GOP candidates are taken money from a known neo Nazis types. You know this.

https://www.texastribune.org/2...er&utm_medium=social

Of course, you will reject the above reporting. That is fine.

I also enjoy from an irony standpoint, they did not want their vote to be public.

Whether this was good policy, is open to debate. My only point is a party is permitted to decide who can be associated w the party. There is no right that a party has to associate w these types.

I wonder who Defend Texas Liberty is getting money from and spending money on. Jonathan Stickland, who recently hosted avowed white supremacist Nick Fuentes at his office for nearly seven hours. And he’s gone after those who’ve been critical of Defend Texas Liberty, a political action committee that is funded by two of the Texas GOP’s most prolific donors.

It is hard to say your part is not antisemitic when the party refuses to rebuke and exclude those who are declared antisemitic.

The existence of antisemitism on the far left does not excuse this association. It highlights the need to so remove the taint.

If the party wants to refuse membership to Nazis, White supremacists, antisemites, and what all, they certainly can.

I guess it’s pretty hard to enforce it. It’s also setting yourself up for being accused of not following your own rules.

After all, in public, all it takes is someone the media feels is “credible” to make an accusation and they run with it.

Yeah, and it's you.

The guy you support and are going to vote for has an avowed Nazi and White Supremacist over for dinner. I guess that's why you and the rest of the republicans can't ban associating with Nazi's and White Supremacists.

To be fair, the vote was 32-29. There are almost half Texas republican reps who haven't lost their minds. Making progress, I guess.
