It didn't go well. When I wanted to discuss with her why the election went the way it did, she didn't want to discuss it. Then she set a timer on her phone and said she would talk about the election for two minutes and not a moment longer.
Then she went a two minute diatribe about Trump and refused to hear how all of the prosecutions against him were unfounded. And after she said her peace, she, refused to hear any rebuttal. I said that was a typical liberal response, but to no avail.

They won't even listen to the stupidity of their own position. Very frustrating.

Mike,

. . . again, who is refusing to appreciate that they might be wrong? We do not tolerate differences of opinion anymore. Now, “I am right and those that disagree with me are wrong”. How about never, ever, ever ever ever ever discuss politics with her again?

M.E. has mentioned a couple times here now that he's had political conversations with family and it hasn't gone well. Why do it? Don't do it.

A wise man told me years ago that parenting was much longer than a marathon. That's true and there's no reason to waste effort at trying to force a topic like current events and the 24 hour news cycle.

Every single talking point of the Democrats has went up in smoke. Along with around an entire states worth of votes. All those suffering from TDS are dealing with resounding defeat in their own way. Hindsight’s 20/20, shouldn’t have brought up the election. You can see here some can’t quite admit they are wrong about most everything.

Before Trump took office the first time the MSM and the Democrats (including the FBI) began a coordinated and partisan effort to destroy Trump by any means possible. Sometimes it seemed if Trump was a party to the efforts.
Roll Eyes

Apparently, some Americans began to believe the allegations of the anti-Trump cabal, for instance

1. The phone call to Georgia asked for something more (and illegal) from Georgia officials other than a meeting to review evidence of election fraud and upon that proof to recalculate the results to accurately reflect fraud (if existing). BTW, to “find” something, it has to exist. Read the entire transcript. Poor Fani bit off more than she can chew for four reasons… First, she’s dumb as a stump. Secondly, regardless of her TDS, hating Trump doesn’t morph into him being guilty. Third, Georgia has a Supreme Court that will apply the law and.. finally people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones (or spend government funds on lovers trysts and then lie about it under oath.)

2. Trump is a 34 times convicted felon. Most of America figured out that Trump was convicted without a unanimous verdict, relying on a time-barred misdemeanor, with a trial judge whose daughter made millions spreading propaganda for anti-Trump candidates. The clear majority of Americans rejected the clear lawfare prosecution as not just unwarranted, but anti-American.

3. Trump was impeached twice! The first impeachment has been so discredited it needs no discussion. The second….
Most Americans saw the Jan 6th committee as actually what it was. An absolutely partisan (the only Republicans allowed to participate were fellow travelers) continuation of the efforts begun before Trump’s inauguration to stymie the man and his agenda. No cross examination of witnesses was allowed, Republican house members were barred from participating or calling witnesses and ALL evidence discovered contrary to the predetermined conclusions was destroyed.
Most Americans knew the Stalin era show impeachment was a sham, but the truth was not apparent to those who bought into TDS. Some folks still wish it were true that Trump was a seditionist, particularly Jack Smith and Adam Schiff… but it isn’t.

4. Jack Smith’s Federal investigation and indictments. Before discussing this, all readers should read (or re-read) Trump’s “peaceful and patriotic “ speech and Trump’s 2:30 tweet on Jan 6th that Twitter took down. BTW, there’s a reason Smith didn’t indict Trump on Sedition charges as some here constantly claim. There no evidence and America (absent the TDS folks) recognized that. The documents case… Joe won that for Trump by his Corvette-protected stash.

5. The loan fraud case and the dressing room case are so bizarre and laughable that they’d possible only in a TDS environment… America figured that out quickly.

6. Women will die from denied abortions.
Abortions to save the life of the mother are legal in all fifty states. TDS folks don’t know that and don’t want to know that.

Have faith… Ronald Reagan was once hated almost as badly as DJT. It’s pretty hard to find someone to trash his legacy today. Bill Clinton used to be admired and respected. “Me too” came along and he’s a legacy noose that most Democrats wish would just go away.

Likewise, as time passes for our daughters and friends, they’ll figure it out and as many Americans have done already, get made at those who duped them.

That's the most telling post in this discussion, IMO.

You also said in the OP:

IMO, that's almost, if not actually pathetic.

Read your words carefully because they actually say exactly what is wrong and what went wrong, and BTW what went right.

I'll help you. The main key word is "fact".

Key words: "don't appreciate" - "refusal to even consider the fact " -- " fact that she is wrong" -- refused to hear how all of the prosecutions against him were unfounded" -- " refused to hear any rebuttal" -- "I said that was a typical liberal response, but to no avail".

I'll say that IMO you have a fine daughter who really thinks for herself and has free will and has a grasp on critical thinking. I can only speculate where she learned and developed all that. Probably some liberal college, but if from you she learned what the antithesis is, and chose differently. Be proud of her.

I can understand and appreciate her not wanting to, pacify, listen to you regurgitate known and proven lies and call them facts. They are in fact lies and she knows it's a waste of time and emotion to listen to it or argue about it.

I have the same problem with ALL my close relatives.

How old is your daughter? Most kids have a rebellious period with their parents . I thought I was going to escape that period but low and behold she had it in her early 20’s right after college. It took about 3 years and things healed completely. She just said it was a dark time for her. I had experienced the same thing. We just recently had a visit and going to travel to spend Thanksgiving together. She just shared with me that she was fed up with the Obama/Soros/Biden/Harris woke movement and terrible price increases on everything. She voted for Trump.

Perhaps you’re trying (unsuccessfully) to be funny. I hope so.

You tell Lavaca he’s all wrong in his reasoning in his approach to his daughter. Then you use the very same type loaded words (I.e, “lies”replacing “facts”) to chastise him.

You’ve accomplished the very best example of TDS, ever. It’ll be studied for decades as the mindless symptom of a closed mind to the possibility of being wrong. Thank goodness the majority of Americans opened theirs. What is funny, America “woke” up in the traditional meaning of the word. I guess being brain dead is a kind of opposite and all encompassing pervasive effect of TDS, though.

Again, you must have been kidding. If not, God bless you and I hope you recover soon.

While I think the OP is foolish to even try and talk politics from his point of view, him being a Trumpeteer and all, if someone set a timer on a phone call to me, my response would be, "time's up", and I would find something to do with my time. The timer thing is insulting. Still, the whole scenario seems stupid to me. Sorry to seem judgmental, but there it is. Regards, Bill

I think ME is pretty close to the truth on this one. Lavaca you taught your daughter to be open minded and think for herself. She obviously did that. She has formed her own thoughts and positions, just like you have. They obviously are not the same as yours. Your attitude of she is wrong and I am right sure sound like a closed mind to me. Ever think that maybe she has some valid ideas and that maybe you are wrong? It sounds like two very strong willed people who will not listen to any argument that does not support their thoughts. I have found that most of the time if the two can actually communicate that the truth lies somewhere in the middle and that both sides have valid points and a compromise can be reached. You may never see everything exactly the same but you should be proud that she is willing to be the independent person she is.

Mike-

I feel the same. I have the ability to critically think “what if I’m wrong?”.

Here’s the but. . . You (yes you, not the collective) sure seem to possess a vehement dislike for those in here that don’t share your views.

I’ve always believed that Americans share so much in common, it’s the fringe and sometimes meaningless issues that divide us (collective us).

If I saw you on a plane or in an airport, I would hesitate to walk over. Not because of how I feel, but for my perception of how you would react, simply because of my politics.

I’ve learned through one of the toughest sports there is, bicycling racing, that egos don’t matter. I’ve had my ass handed to me, and also delivered much punishment on bikes. That has made me very reflective and tolerant of diverse opinions. Most bicycle people are very, VERY liberal.

Try to explain to a bunch of greenies why I have the big 5 tattoo’s on my lower legs. That requires patience with diversity and outward hostility sometimes.

The verbal dialogue between two men, who share passions, should never be dependent upon Trump/Harris or Trump whatever.

It’s like hating someone because they don’t like a restaurant or a brand of car.

Sheep, right or left of the aisle are not independent thinkers.

If the young lady reads left, right and independent sources, is willing to debate her convictions with an informed opponent, understands finance and the necessity of accountability both for herself and a nation state, the she’s one to be proud of.

If acceptance by her peers, pop stars and professors are more important to her than reason and history, you might just have to await Churchillian wisdom:

To add;

My wife and I have a lady that comes to our home, daily to help us with my disabled son. When she started, about 18 months ago. She would leave the room if we were watching Fox or NM or anything other than CNN or the like.

We haven’t done a single thing to change our ways, nothing. But after 18 months of spending 10-12 hours a day with a very conservative household, she has changed her views of “what” we are and how we live.

She voted for Trump.

IMO, in person or on this forum, it's practically impossible to reconcile opinions with someone who has reached the conclusion "all of the prosecutions against him were unfounded". There's a lot more where that came from.

That conclusion seems has to ignore the fact that a grand jury disagreed with that notion, based on the body of evidence, a lot which we know about and some we don't know.

I was reading and listening to some legal analysis yesterday. They were discussing Jack Smith's dropping the charges and case against Trump due to his being elected. Had he not been elected the prosecutions would have gone forth.

The main thing that I got out of the analysis of the current situation, which I hadn't thought of before, is what about the unindicted co-conspirators? They are not protected pursuant the SCOTUS immunity ruling. Smith already has the evidence well documented.

The legal analysists predicted what might happen and what could happen. Smith could take the cases on the co-conspirators to a grand jury and based on the evidence most likely they would greenlight the prosecution. But then Trump and his new DOJ would nix it all. So, the conclusions were that already enough money and time have been wasted. Why waste more? It's not that the evidence isn't sufficient, but that Trump has proven that the pursuit through the rule of law is futile.

That's significant. Trump, through lawfare, has already defeated the rule of law bigly. More to come.

Does not change the fact Trump took, kept, and tried to hide numerous documents he had no right to keep and refused to surrender when asked and subsequently subpoenaed.

Does not change the fact, Trump used his office to try to illegally change the results of the election.

Look at Biden’s 2020 vote data and say with a straight face that the election results were not falsified . You are in the minority if you believe there was not election cheating. The precedent was that past presidents did whatever. Probably bad precedent but precedent none-the-less. Trump was treated differently…the people saw through.

All conservatives should thank Jack Smith as he and all the lawfare prosecutors had a lot to do with Trump’s success at the ballot box.

Here's how it's done, the spin and lies:

Rep. Jordan on potential Jack Smith investigation: ‘We want to see what’s going on’

And here's a beginning move to expedite Trump's rampage:

Real conservatives aren't radicalized. Thus "radicalized conservative" is an oxymoron. Yet there are many radicalized republicans.

Per my far-right friend: "reality sucks"

D.J. Trump aka Trumpism's Founding Farter, aka Farter Martyr. Qualifications: flatulence - mental, oral and anal.

Being treated differently and behaving differently, with regard to the rule of law, are tethered.

Defeating the rule of law is what's different.

All conservatives should thank Jack Smith as he and all the lawfare prosecutors had a lot to do with Trump’s success at the ballot box.

Fox News had more influence by far than Jack Smith.

It wasn't Jack Smith but the spin instead.

I'm sick of the lies.

And worse, the spin.

It's fucking relentless.

You think this pendulum swing is great, and you want unity.

It has swung alright, and damage will be done.

When it swings again, assuming out votes still count, buckle up.

Trump and team are like racehorses at the gate, ready to stomp corruption in the founders' faces. They will succeed. But it won't last with the current System intact. They know that. You know that, We know that.

They WILL over reach. How far? Can they be stopped? I dunno.

Yawl have been writing the word and idea of hope. So, I'll chime in. There is one thing I hope Trump is successful at and that's ending the carnage in Ukraine and do something positive and lasting regarding the Israel and Hamas conflation. I hope he doesn't give Putin too much.

In all the gloating from the radical right, they seem to have forgotten 2018, 2020, & 2022. It will happen again. All it's going to take is trump fucking it up like he did last time. There will certainly be a recession involved. Republicans will try to spin it as Biden's fault, but even the most uninformed will see thru that.

Isn’t that the old tune that EVERY Dem administration has played when following a Republican administration?

Regarding the OP, I have one brother whom has proven time and time again that he is completely incapable of having even the slightest pushback against his Left leaning sensibilities.
He recently came to my house, knowing full well that I and my family are unashamed Catholics and conservatives and he had the temerity to tell all of my kids, even the youngest, that Trump is equivalent to Hitler and that God is a figment of their imagination like Santa Claus.
This, from a sibling which I have always treated well and with compassion regardless of politics.
We are both in our ‘50s and honestly, after that display, I am fairly indifferent as to whether we ever speak again - it was THAT insane and offensive.
He’s my brother, and I love him, but even in that, there are boundaries.

Concerning a daughter, maybe just pray for her. That’s a harder spot than where I am with my brother.

If there was any good from the display it was that everyone present had a good insight into just what the TDS contingent is all about.
I’m confident that he did more damage to the image of the Left than any word I could possibly muster.

It’s the same here.
Honestly, it would be a great experiment to find an unaffiliated individual as possible and get them to study the ARPF.
You guys, (won’t list here as we know whom I’m talking about) are your own worst enemies.
M.E., I’m not surprised your family thinks you’re a loon if you actually act in person anything close to the way you comport yourself here.
Just do a Liberal meltdown search online.
From all the posts of doom and gloom to the great video of the leftist activist screaming in the face of the toddler in her stroller.
They are all GOLD in the effort to move the needle away from the woke BS which the Dems own top to bottom.
