Instead of deflection on this post how about a normal response concerning what was actually posted? Just once.

Not deflection, just an observation that the likely GOP nominee is nearly as old as Biden and has a slew of moral defects himself.

As far as videos of Presidential stupidity goes, it would be hard to be Trump's bleach video.

Yeh, it’s really funny isn’t it. Of course without America you would be booted out of your mansions back out into the desert where you family was 100 years ago and has been for a 100 centuries. Riding high right now, but you shouldn’t be so smug, that certainty ain’t your history.

Why not pick someone younger and middle of the road to stand against Trump next time around?

They wouldn’t have to do much and it’s hard to imagine Trump doing well against a vanilla candidate. Of course the “ I always vote XXX” brigade would still support the orange idiot.

I do not disagree but did you see who the other Democratic candidates were in 2020? Elizabeth Warren? Bernie? Mayor Pete? Marianne Williamson?

Joe was the vanilla candidate.

A younger moderate of either party is sought by a wide margin of voters. The party machinery caters to the fringes, thus we have two candidates who the majority of voters see as unappealing.

A friend and I went to a Bernie rally, he because he's a Democrat, I to see what he'd say. We and one other guy were the only gray-hairs present, greatly outnumbered by each of blue-, pink-, and green-hairs...

Our political leadership has divided Americans as a strategy.

American shave far more in common than that which divides us, but the parties (both) need us at one another's throats.

This sub-forum is a prime example. Just shout the other side down. Marginalize and diminish each other, then deny it'e even occurring.

Both sides use division in an attempt to gain permanent political power. THAT is the true enemy of the American people.

I agree that we have more in common than that which divides us.

I also agree that cooked up division is where the harm is.

Re division as a political strategy - that's clearly Trumpism. And the purpose is also clear, as you say.

I very much disagree that division as a strategy is present in both parties, especially equally.

I, for example, consider myself divided politically from anything to do with Trumpism. There is no way I can reconcile with Trumpism. That's not because I want division, nor is it because some leadership led me that way. That's simply not the case with conservatives these days. I WILL remain divided from anything to do with Trump so long as I deem all of it a threat to the country. That's reactionary, I didn't initiate it. Likewise, the Dem party didn't initiate Trumpism. The GOP owns that.

Division as a strategy is one of the fundamental factors in fascism. Dems are not on the fascist trajectory. Republicans are.

Fair enough. Just a few things that I would wager you believe that can be called a "Trumpism"

Given a choice, who's border policy was better?

Or North Korea? They fired another missile into the sea again today?

Or even our domestic energy policy?

I don't see these as Trump policies as much as they are the delta between the left and the right in the future vision of America's place in the world.

If the left and right politicians were about negotiating policy, then we wouldn't have a problem.

One definition of negotiation is:
Negotiation is a strategic discussion between two parties to resolve an issue in a way that both find acceptable.

Isn't it ironic that Trump, through a ghost writer, published a book titled The Art of the Deal. That was a lie too. Fascists don't make deals with the opposition - they dominate them.
