You are so correct about that. Probably "we" don't comprehend that either. We might as well be living in a foreign country. Lately, according to surveys, polls, whatever, hardly anyone is satisfied with either candidate, Biden or Trump.

There are some articles on the topic. Some herein don't like it when I appeal to authority using articles, but those authors/journalists are far more informed that I.

Frankly I don't find either article with a satisfying answer. The first one is better than the second one, IMO.

My take on it is that Trump dominates or bullies those who have any power in politics to do things they wouldn't otherwise do just to keep their jobs. He's a loyalist freak. The "establishment" kowtows to him, feeds off his power, multiplies it, and sees opportunity in the chaos to achieve some long-standing far-right goals. Trump is leveraging his base and the "system" by degree and means, unprecedented in the US, IMO. It's astounding to realize that he is leveraging Christians for political power, with lies and promises, stoking fear and loathing, worldview and ideology and culture war. Drill down - that means that Trump has not only hijacked a political party, millions of syncopates, but in addition he's hijacked Christianity to leverage political power through his base, bottom up.

If that's what's happening with the Democrats, regarding Biden, they must be doing a good job of hiding it because I don't see it. They must be just going with electability, name recognition, and trying to stick with policy, etc. Another thing, with Trump and Trumpism as a threat, it may be that the Dem establishment just aren't willing to take a risk with challenging an incumbent Biden. Kick the can down the road four more years.

There are. We are looking at a manipulation of the electorate. These guys are figureheads at the beck and call of big donors.

Biden has been in Washington so long that he can keep up appearances in his sleep. And he does.
Can he make critical decisions? Remains to be seen. Hope none of them are extinction-related.

Trump has no political philosophy, appears to manipulate the system as he finds it for his own purposes.
He signs the papers he's given to sign, may or may not grok the consequences. He hires people to think for him.
I'll opine that he is his grandfather's grandson.

It looks like both of them just have a lot of disadvantages. Seems like a classic case of pest or cholera! Most people will just vote along their party lines anyway. Just hope that the primaries could throw both of them out! Get someone better, someone that people would respect as the president even though you didn`t vote for him.

So we're just supposed to give the guy publicly calling for the death penalty for the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs for doing exactly what he was ordered to do a pass?

The one whose entire top of his Administration has either been convicted of felonies, is currently under indictment or, without exception, says he's an idiot who should never be allowed near power again?

Because Joe stutters?

Republicans think Biden should not be re-elected.

Might both be right, for a change.
Refreshing to see bipartisan agreement...

Yeah, "both sides"...

We have evidence, presented in several Courts in several jurisdictions conclusively demonstrating to a moral certainty that Trump is, and always has been, a liar and a fraud.

We have the parroted accusations from Fox News (admitted liars) that Joe Biden is senile because he sometimes stutters, as he has for 60+ years, while at the same time claiming that he's the mastermind behind an international crime cartel. Neither of which seems to be keeping him from kicking Republicans' asses on the regular.

Definitely a "both sides" situation...

This is a perfect example of not using the same measurement for both sides -- Did both of these geriatrics have brain farts ? yep ---

Is trump an idiot? likely - and the court cases are certainly exposing nefarious actions -

the worst part? There are still people that will want him to be the republican candidate, after all this.

Don't misunderstand me, I think Joe has it together and understands our government like no Presidents since the Johnson/Nixon cycle, and if he gets a second term with Democratic majorities in both Houses he could be the most influential President since FDR.

But there is a part of me that hopes he resigns the day after the Inauguration and President Harris nominates Pete Buttigieg as Veep, quickly confirmed by the Senate.

Might stock up on ingot molds just in case, there would be melted-down Republicans running down every drainage ditch in the Country...

Most national elections during the last twenty years have involved picking between the lesser of two evils.

The electoral college may not be the best judge of these evil candidates. While the citizens need
to be intelligent enough to consider which candidate might be best for the country.

Which is worse? Criminal acts not prosecuted
before a President takes office, or criminal
acts taking place by a sitting President with the aid of family members?

Alternatively, which candidate has done the most good for the USA-or which candidate has objectively done the most harm to the country?

In a democracy there can be no greater crime than trying to overthrow democracy itself for one's own self interest.

Republicans started dallying with it under Reagan, cutting a deal to prevent the hostages from being released, then Bush pardoned everybody who would have to testify against him over the missile sales and weapons to the Contras, but no President in our history has ever just frontally attempted to supplant the Rule of Law until Trump, nor has any former President ever advocated for the Constitution to be suspended so he could regain power until Trump.

He will never be prosecuted for even a quarter of the crimes he committed while in office, but conviction on even 10% of that 25% will leave him to die in prison in disgrace.
