Did she, or did she not, say she was never proud to be an American until she became first lady?

Did she lecture people on giving up a slice of their pie, so others can have it, while having 3 mansions and in a 3k pants suit?

She doesn't anger me... her disregard for her impact is loathsome

Oh, and let's not forget "common core" where the Obama administration paid nearly 700m .. and got a nice 10% ish kick back for an unstarted book, once they left office

I don't understand you here. Are you saying the Obama administration paid 700 million for a book? Paid to whom?

Lots of famous people get huge advances on books they haven't started yet. Hence the term "advance."

So, Roland, you have had long talks with Lane to understand where he actually ia.. Ah, the not black enough arguement.

Sorry, no points, failed to understand the assignment.

Say, how does that "soft racism" work for you, automatically assuming that a person's skintone sets the entire path of their life?

Have also heard it called genteel racism, or when joe says black people don't know how to use a computer or "poor kids are just as smart as white kids" oh, that's just joe" the same racial campion that gave the eulogy to a known racist.. and who talks all.about his background in settling racial conflict.. get a big chain with a lock on it

I'm just tired of some conservatives claiming that Obama resurrected racism. Is that the tune they're playing on Fox News? Or X? What nonsense.

Racism has always been with us. Ask black folks, not white folks, the question.

My family has done well starting in the late 80s. I left home a month after I graduated HS in 1982. On my own since I left. Drove off in a worn out pickup with $20.00 in my pocket and all I owned inside. We ran cattle bought with borrowed money on leased land when I was a kid — a lot like sharecropping.

I am a product of the American Dream! Why I want to preserve it.

I started school in 1970 as a minority in a cotton farming community. My class was <50% white with the majority equally split between blacks and hispanics. There were zero issues. We knew no difference.

It’s: Others have dreams for America.

I want America to stay as she traditionally was…The Land of Opportunity.

We know. Where blacks and minorities knew their place and stayed on their side of the tracks doing Trump's "black jobs". And gays lived in fear and had to maintain a facade of heterosexuality to avoid being ostracized or harmed. A time when women understood their role in life was to put any career ambitions they had aside and be a good little homemaker. Let's get back to the good old days, say the 1950's, this whole change and progress thing is overrated. We all know that when the founders spoke of opportunity, they meant opportunity for white males.

Mike,
Very few posters on AR were even alive during the 50s, and vanishing few were adults that could recognize the political environment.

Lane, you, and I are "of an age" cohort.. I think more like 1995, before the huge waves of illegals, with law and order being the norm, if not universally upheld, without victim shaming... and before the losening credit worthiness laws that lead to the housing crisis.. or 2005, aside from the wars...

Though, if you don't mind, why do you leap to deeply racist tropes when someone has different ideas and ideals than you? It can't be because you have become a lefty, after their rather WARM welcoming of you into their shared knowledge sphere in 2019, unless there is some Stockholm syndrome there?

Yup! Pretty well had those uppity black folks stuck at the back of the bus for good!

I recall some years ago being in Chattanooga when we first started there, and it came Martin Luther King day. I naively asked a woman (who was applying for the office manager job) if any shops or businesses would be closed. She looked at me as if I was crazy, and said “Why would anybody close just for a dead nigger?”. Lesson #1 for me.

Then those damn Obamas has to poke their noses into a deal that was close to done. Sometimes it seems an honest cracker just can’t win. Roll Eyes I can sure understand why the bigots and racists need Trump so bad, he’s about their only hope at this point. Of course, seeing as how they have Jesus (oddly enough, the definitive Socialist) so strongly on their side, I guess there’s still hope. tu2

Ah, the 1950s! The good old days.

When I was very young, in the late 1950s, my family rode a passenger train. It was either from or to Wellington, Ohio. In the station I saw two restroom signs for men. One said "white" and the other said "colored." (Yes, this was in the North, not a Southern state.)

I asked my mom which restroom should I use. White, she told me. I asked what did a colored person look like? I envisioned a finished image from a coloring book.

She explained that "colored" meant people who weren't white like us. She told me about races and segregation, and said it was an evil thing.

I suppose that incident affected my attitude toward racism more than anything else.

Here is how I know Dr. Easter is wrong;
1) During the election an older last got up and declared President Obama was an Arb, and not an American. Of course, I have posted the entire quote before with Sen. McCain’s response.

2) I was thought the Lost Cause Myth all the way through High School that was in the 90s.

3) I was never taught about the pervasiveness of extent of the violence toward African Americans. I am glad we know have Tulsa Race Massacre being made knowing. I was never taught the State Government of Indiana being controlled by the leader of the KKK. These things need to be brought to light and kept on display. Otherwise, people forget. When people forget you get Jason Alden dining in front of a court house about vigilante justice where an African American was permitted to by lynched.

President Obama did not make us more divided. President Obama made those who Benetton the status quo of ignorance angry and used that to fire up base voters.

America is large enough for everyone. No one including Dr. Easter wants to live in the America the framers created where your state legislature could allow your police to search your home so a warrant. That was traditional America.

America is big enough for Dr. Ester to live his “traditional life” and allow others their life. It is not zero sum. He losses nothing that a gay couple cannot be prosecuted by the state nor their marriage void. He just does not like them existing on the same footing as he does.
