Question for those of you far more worldly traveled than I . . . Does a fishing rod tube have to have a provision for locking it and be locked with a TSA lock? Can I use a rifle case and mark it containing fishing equipment and again TSA locks? One reason for the rifle case idea, many times I stumble across a rifle in ABQ that wants to move where it is more humid! Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits

I use a sportstube - I have series 1-2-3. I don’t lock it but I have the ability to lock it with a tsa lock. Fishing gear will often be opened by tsa and other international agencies. A tuff pack would work but my rods are too big for it. Mike

I use a travel rod bag or 'suitcase' that can be locked. All of my hard rod cases that I'm taking go into the rod bag or 'suitcase' and I lock it with a TSA lock. Various high quality fishing manufacturers make them-FishPond, Simms, Orvis, Sage, etc. etc.

last time I flew was in 89,I bet I'm up for a RUDE surprise when + or if I do again. In the FWIW dept. I flew to Germany in 61 on the last prop driven transport + within minutes of all air travel being cancelled due to the bay of pigs fiasco. Never mistake motion for action.

NC like you it has been a while since I have flown, not that long though. Seemed funny that things had to be locked and a rod case "wide open". Well at least when I get to ABQ there will be a big box store or two to do anything I need. Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits
