Let's face it, lot of things to go wrong with a recycled rail boiler. These guys were venturing where no one had gone before. Well there is the small matter of the shell penetration into the coning tower. She was very close to the Housatonic when the blast occurred, maybe 25 feet. Likely the crew was hammered by the underwater blast as well. | |||
