I bought another suppressor from Silencer Central at SCI show. Previous ATF approval times have ranged from 4 months to 13 months, this one took only 16 days! That’s pretty good!

I bought one on Jan 2, and was approved Feb 11.

Those beat mine. I kicked off my SC suppressor purchase on 12/11/24 and it showed up at my door 2/18/25

I spoke with one of their reps at their booth at the last gun show and the salesman indicated that it could all be taken care of right then + there, and supposedly leave with the unit at that time. I didn't buy one then, so I'm not sure if that was true, as I'd always heard that there would be a waiting period. I intend to speak with them again at the next gun show in March. I'll post my results.

Unfortunately, they gave you bad info. They can start the process, fingerprints, application and photo, but you then have to create an account with ATF as well as SC. Then a phone consultation and fill out 4473 on line. Then, they submit it to ATF, lots quicker than it used to be. Also, SC can set your trust up free of charge if you choose to go that route, otherwise you have to get approval from Chief LEO in your county. I’d think the Austin area might be hard to get that approval.

Not quite "to my door" time, but the time between when I completed the form (I had to redo the photo) and ATF approval was less than 1 business day.

The first one I brought took 9 months back in the day. I know folks who waited over a year.

The new system seems to work better.
