Got nailed for back taxes (they wanted more from last year's estimated taxes) and now my new taxes have eaten into any big game hunt ideas I may have notions of.

I just hope no one else got caught in this...

The top 1% of earners pay approximately 41% of the total income taxes in the US. The lower 50% of earners pay about 3% of total taxes. The lower 50% are voting more and more. They firmly believe that the "wealthy" don't pay their fair share. It is only going to get worse.

You do not know how lucky you are. In Denmark I pay 73% of everything I earn over 50 T US pr year. VAT is 25% and car tax is 350%. If you did not know Denmark is a socialist country! Mad How I cope – I try not to think about it.

Here is what is ironic:

Once I am taxed over 50%, it is less expensive to take customers hunting than it does to go by myself. Ditto for other business boondogles. The end result: less profit, less taxes.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Think of all those people who aren't wishing for a hunt. They wish they could have that money and get a good education for their child. Or scratch off their debt. Or invest in the business they have always dreamed of. Taxation is robbing the wealth of this nation and retarding the futures of our chilldren. Wealth may not be 40k for a lion hunt. $2000 for a family computer, or a couple of bycicles could make all the difference in the world for some families, and the government robs them of it and says they know better how to spend it.

Don't get me wrong, but those of you old enough to have paid taxes in the late 50's or early 60's go back and look at your federal tax returns. In 63 I earned about $5,000 and my federal taxes were about $1,200. I had no state income taxes here in Pa and no local income taxes, my pmt for SS for the year was about $140. The poblem is not with federal income taxes, but the SS & Medicare taxes and the welfare pmts (receipt there of) on your federal tax returm i e make work pmt, child credit, education credit energy effecient credit, retirement saving credit etc etc. You don't want to look at the "VAT" which it isn't but a true sales tax.

The tax system is no doubt causing massive problems in this country. If you think about it, it rewards bad behavior.

If there are 2 tax payers, each making $150,000, where one is single and the other has 6 kids, which one pays less? The one with 6 kids of course. The first tax payer has no kids going through school and used relatively little government services such as the public education system. The second is a drain on the system. They are the biggest user of government services yet they pay the least taxes. Does that make any sense? Not to me. I think there should be no tax breaks for having kids (I have 2 by the way) and there should be an added tax for having more than 2. perhaps it would stop some of these people who breed them but can't feed them to slow things down.

The lower 50% of earners are largely clueless about the economy, business, etc. The left has started class warfare with its rhetoric. it is shocking how they believe that the rich pay nothing. The IRS's own statistics prove otherwise. As I stated earlier, the top 1% pays approximately 42% of the taxes in this country. How the hell does this constitute not paying their fair share?

They need to get rid of the 2 party system in the country and have NO parties. It is f'ing ridiculous. The democrats who are now for the increase in the debt ceiling , were against it when Bush was in office. The Republicans who are against it now, were for it when Bush was in office.

Someone needs to explain to the masses just how much money the government is spending in a manner they can understand. For example, just how much are they spending in schools per student per year. Do you know that some places in the NE spend $21,000 per student? Think about it. $21,000 per student!!! How sustainable is that especially when many with multiple kids don;t even make $21,000 per year. Who is going to pay for all of this? If the government took 100% of the income as a tax, it still would not balance the budget. How sustainable is that?

We need to wake up. There are big problems. One hears nothing about the value of the dollar declining so badly. We are headed for disaster and the gutless pricks in Washington won't or can't do anything about it.

I am lucky. I am successful. No one gave me a damn thing. My father was a barber. I work damn hard, long long hours. I risk total financial ruin every time I sign my name. I provide about 25 high paying jobs. My people get full health benefits and retirement benefits. I support my mother and grandmother. I support my kids. I put them through private school and college. I have not been a drain on the system.

What have I gotten out of this? I pay a lot of taxes yet I am vilified by these left wing idiots. They think i should share my wealth with people who are less responsible than me and have a lot less work ethic than me. I say f@#k them. The stress and extreme hours have taken a toll on my health and personal life. I question why I am doing this. I am about to the point that I am thinking of selling out. I am so sick of this BS.

I promise you if they made me king, I could cure a lot of this in 1 day.

I apologize for my rant. Today has set me off.

I have had to pay the AMT the last two years. That sucks big time. The AMT was invented years ago and should have been indexed to inflation. I could have gone to Masailand and had money left over.

I am not one of those millionaires that doesn't pay taxes(that the AMT was initiated to snare).

The AMT was started because, if memory serves me correctly, 6 old ladies paid no taxes. The were fully invested in Muni Bonds. Of course no one seems to understand because Munis interest is tax free the cost of muni service i e sewer, water etc is cheaper.

As Hughie Long so artfully said "Don't tax you and don't tax me, tax the man behind the tree".

You can't escape from it all--but you can move to Alaska and escape from most of it!

To the guy from Denmark (Carl)--move here now! No state income tax, no state sales tax, most of the communities don't have property tax(but they are small and remote), no auto tax, a royalty check every year form the oil revenue. Over 65?--a monthly check and most of property tax forgiven even in the communities that have property tax. The best hunting and fishing in the world AND no state gun laws. Lord, how I love this place! A man can be free here!

Excuse my rant but I spent the winter in the People's Republic of Massachusetts and the place was full of welfare takers, over taxed mindless emasculated men, atheists, Democrats, and granolas.

The sense of entitlement in this country is amazing. It shocks me on a daily basis. I will give you two true stories.

Shortly after Obama got elected, I went to my deer hunting camp. Tiffany, my fiance, was coming to meet me. Well, her sense of direction is about as good as Obama's sense of how to run this country. After thinking about it, I decided if I ever wanted to see her again, I had better get someone to drive her. I called a limo driver that I use from time to time. All the arrangements were made. We were set.

Before I proceed, I need to disclose that this driver is very gay. However, he is hard core right wing.

Well, Marc calls me and I drive to the gate to meet them. As soon as I got there,I knew something was wrong. Marc was red in the face and he was clearly agitated. I had never seen him like this before and he has driven me a lot. I inquired. He had stopped the limo in Palatka, FL to fill up with gas. As he was filling the limo, a black woman struts over to the car and said," Now dat Barack been elected, we all gonna be riding in limos." He was furious. I can't blame him.

Just last night, Tiffany & I walked to a gym perhaps 3/4's of a mile away. We lifted weights for an hour. We then left and started walking toward a sushi restaurant near my condo. As we walked, I noticed a small gathering of perhaps 25 people. As we got closer, I could see they held signs. These people whoever they were, were having their own protest rally. I stopped to hear what they had to say. It was very interesting.

I should first explain that just from the looks of these people, I doubt a single one made it past high school. After hearing them speak, I am betting the collective IQ of the GROUP was less than 100. These were not intelligent people.

You should have heard the rhetoric. It was amazing. The rich have every thing handed to them. They don't even work. They don't pay any taxes. Social security is fine. The plan to change social security is nothing but a ploy to make the rich even richer all at the expense of the poor. And on and on and on......

I was so f'ing pissed off I couldn't see straight. I wanted to have a few words with these fine upstanding citizens. Tiffany knew I was really pissed. She kept dragging me toward the restaurant. Then, I horrified her when I said I was going to get my tax return and show it to these idiots after about 5 Crown & 7's. She was really worried then. Of course, I was kidding about that part.

The sad part is that these idiots really believe this stuff.

I don't know if I would call having more kids "bad behavior", especially if someone was making $150K.

Those 6 kids are going to be paying into the system when their parents are drawing from it. The bachelor will theoretically be drawing form the system one day, yet he has no offspring paying into the system.

This situation(negative population growth) is causing all kinds of cash flow problems in many European countries.

That was just a random number. The real problem is when they have 6 kids and no income. The point is that the more children the more government services are used, yet they pay less taxes.

I agree with you on most points, but it is my belief that the government wants to encourage people to have more children.

Otherwise we would end up like Carl in Denmark, paying most of our income into taxes.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

No, the gov'ment wants certain people to have more children. They're creating a power base.... at your expense.
Stay ignorant, keep having them well fare babies, vote democratic, and you'll get more and more free stuff that the "man" has to pay for. It worked for Byrd in WV, apparently Obama thinks it'll work for him.
