Yeah, I do. My own father! I posted these game cam photos and comment (below) on my FB page and got this response.

"Then there is this gal and her fawn. I have many photos of them and they are very photogenic. I am guessing but I think her fawn is a male. This doe has been a fixture in this place on my property since I have been here."

Ed
Why haven't you killed her ?

I prefer to shoot bucks.

Ann oh, I thought you were into killing everything that is edible.

Ann-
Why do you think that?

Ed-
You like to kill defenseless animals, don't you. They have no chance against firearms?

Ann-
It's actually archery season for deer. Why are you against hunting? Are you a vegan?

Now, my grandfather was a deer hunter. I am really quite embarrassed by my father's ignorance. What advice may you all give in dealing with this situation? My friends are all laughing at me.

No.

But I have friends who object.

I have no problems shutting them up, as their arguments are so shallow.

A friend went on safari with us.

He had a ball.

He came back and put his safari pictures in his home office.

A while later they were gone.

I asked him what happened.

Turned out his teenage daughter took them off.

A few days later I found her on the beach, at a club.

Lying down sunbathing in a bikini.

She ordered a club sandwich, and the waiter arrived with it.

I said "you should be ashamed of yourself! Eating a poor un born chick! Someone had to take it away from its mother and cook it alive for you to enjoy"

"SHUT UP! STOP talking like this!"

"and don't forget that slice of bacon. That poor pig was running around a farm a few days ago. They had an order and got hold of the poor sod, chopped its head off, sliced him to pieced so you can have your club sandwich"

"I said SHUT UP! I won't be able to eat it now"

"Good. I hope you starve!"

She got up and ran off! rotflmo

Good for you Saeed! Several years ago I was in the Safeway grocery store at the butcher's window. There was a woman in line in front of me who asked the butcher for a cut of beef. He didn't have it at the counter but said he would go in back + take it off of a side. She says, a side of what? He tells her + she goes ballistic; she's going to the SPCA, PETA, + everyone else she can think of. He + I exchanged glances. He turned + went in back; me since I didn't work there felt free to laugh out loud. In answer to your question though, Ann; my mother was always against hunting + guns in general years ago but she has come around.

It freaks me out that my father is such a pantywaist. He has no problem buying meat in a store or eating at a restaurant. I'm pretty sure he is a liberal too.

I have three brothers. None of them hunt or shoot either. Sick!

I'm pretty much the hunting anomaly in my family as well. My siblings and my late parents were not anti-hunting so they just accepted Iwas different.

Ann, I humbly suggest you do not engage your Father on FB. It's not a good platform for civil debate, even with a family member.

I usually start slow when trying to convert a non-hunter. Notice I didn't say anti-hunter, there's a difference.

I feel a responsibility to convert as many non-hunters as I can through education about facts like the Robinson - Pittman Act. I point out that I have likely contributed either directly or indirectly to conservation and habitat protection far more than someone with a kind heart that does nothing.

Cheers

Back in 2006, right before leaving on our first African safari, my wife and I went to dinner at a fine steak restaurant in Colorado where we where living at the time.

We ran into a couple she knew from church. When asked what's going on, she told them we are heading out on safari in a couple of weeks. The lady says, "Just photos right". I told her "of course not, we're going hunting".

She started in on a rant. I just grabbed my wife by the arm and gently nudged her to our table.

A bit later, I walked to the rest room and as I passed their table, the lady looked up at me, gave me the thumbs down sign, and said "Booo, Hunting", then grabbed her fork and put a piece of steak in her mouth.

Talk about being ignorant!

All my relatives were farmers/hunters. No complaints. None of my children hunt. None of them care whether I do or not.

I took my son on numerous hunts. Invited him to Africa. He never caught the spark. He's hog hunt with me before and killed a hog, but it's not his thing. (He loves doing things outside in cold weather. He would be a natural. I mentioned that to him. He said, "nah".

Buy him a bow and tell him what a challenge it is to learn to shoot well and how much of a challenge it is to get close enough to an animal to actually shoot it with an arrow.

Maybe he hasn't experienced the challenging side of hunting. Just thinking out loud.

I had a Sister In Law who didn't understand hunting. I would archery hunt their property for Whitetails. I was going out scouting a few weeks before the season and offered to take her along. I camo'd her up and explained the importance of being quiet and not even moving your head, only your eyes, to look around. She did great and we saw a Buck servicing some does and later making a scrap. When we got back to the farmhouse she couldn't stop talking about how cool the experience was.

I have 3 sons. The eldest loved to deer hunt. The 2nd loved to bird hunt. My 3rd. doesn't care about hunting at all but he does appreciate shooting as he grew up with it + has his 1911 + a CHL. The beauty of the interests of the 1st two was that in their different interests, I could always take them one on one every year. They are all grown + gone now but they have retained the love of guns + hunting.

I grew up in a hunting and farming/ranching family. They hunted, they raised critters to later slaughter and eat, and had big gardens of vegetables and small orchards of fruit trees. It was just a normal part of our lives. My wife was raised in a non-hunting family. That was ok, as she knew when she married me that it was a part of my DNA. My boys all love to hunt but various and different critters. My sons in law are not hunters. However, all of my family, including the sons and daughters in law shoot because if they didn't they'd stay home from a lot of family fun and activities. The first Christmas that a new son or daughter in law spends as part of our family, they are given a brand new Ruger 10/22 with scope, gun sock and a red Ruger soft carrying case as a gift from me only. So far it has worked to increase their understanding and love for firearms even if they were never raised with hunting and shooting as part of their family.

A lot of my close friends are anti hunting. Does not bother me at all. Our friendship is bigger than hunting.

They would prefer I not hunt.

I don’t try to preach them on hunting or get preached on anti hunting.

I am hunting Kansas and will be visit one of my closest friends who are anti hunting.

I am not sure my mom or dad are pro hunting. They don’t stop me from hunting.

I did take my mom to Mokore/save conservancy in Zimbabwe. She has a great time. Mokore team really looked after my mom.

I hunted after dropping her off from game drives. It was kind of expected I did not stack trophies or post pictures of dead animals on her vacation social media threads. I shot two impalas and hunted bush pig hard.

Given hunting involves killing and taking of life I would not force that activity on anyone.

I do get pissed of when my buddies who actively eat meat and fill their Facebook threads with right wing political stuff start bitching about my hunting photos on Facebook. I normally reply with a picture of them munching on a steak Big Grin

I come from a farm family (very fortunate). I’m 69 and have hunted since I was a young boy. Three of my four brothers hunt, one used to but lost interest. Nobody I’m my immediate family is anti hunting at all. My only son is avid bird hunter and arrowed an elk and one deer so far this fall.
I suspect that a couple nieces are probably anti, but tolerate their father, my brother, hunting. I really don’t have any anti hunting friends, or they probably would not be my friends.

Perfect!

My brother, sister, and one daughter are anti, but don't bother me. Growing up, I butchered chickens and hogs with my dad and dressed-out any game I shot. Brother quit hunting after the first time he had to dress a rabbit; made him puke.

To each their own, I say.

df06, I do have anti-hunting friends as well as anti-guns. We just don't talk about it. I have no problem with their beliefs as long as they don't include me. You don't want to hunt or own a gun, then don't. No worries. I will not intrude on your wishes. That is the conservative viewpoint but alas the reverse is not reciprocated. No point in going on + kicking a dead horse; we all know what I'm saying. Yep DT17, my sentiments exactly, "to each their own".

I just found out yesterday that one of my daughters in law has an ex pat brother who currently lives and works in Scotland, and has been f--king liberalized while living there. (He worships Greta Thunberg if you can believe that b.s.) Two of my grandkids went to Sportsman's Warehouse with me yesterday and they told grandpa how Uncle Scott was voting for Biden because one of the things that Biden was going to do was take away the 'big guns', and they thought that was good because we don't need 'big guns'. I asked their mother when we got back what that meant and she said AR-15s-because they are weapons of war and we don't need them. I told her that the weapons of war back at the founding of this country were black powder rifles and pistols owned by every citizen and that they were, in part, meant to protect the people from their own government, should it turn tyranical. I was pissed that they were being indoctrinated and told her so. Next time they're with me, we are going to have a basic history lesson on the Constitution, the Second Amendment and the need for 'weapons of war' in order for the people to be free from their own tyranical government. Big Grin And, by the way, they will also understand that the AR-15 is one of the most popular hunting rifle platforms today. tu2

UEG,

I'd take them to the range if they were my grandchildren, but that might (?) provoke a fight.
As to the original question, I live in Texas and no one in my family questions that I hunt. My daughter doesn't like that I hunt cats. One of my law partners doesn't like it when I hunt elephants.
Most people don't care about buffalo or antelope. Only one of my law partners has expressed openly that she does not like hunting period.

People care about elephants, lions, and leopards.

lavaca: Actually, we go shooting as a family all of the time-including the grandkids that I referred to and their parents(mom also). They all love it. But, that being said, I don't like the misinformation about 'big guns' being preached by their mom as expressed by their libtard Uncle, and I intend on correcting it. Hell, they've even shot my two S&W M&P15-22s. (22 lr AR's).

My wife doesn't care for hunting, but she knows that if she complains about it or blocks it she'll be single.

Her sister is freaking retarded, her husband occasionally hunts or used to hunt, but doesn't really hunt anymore. She has shut him down. She even bitched to my wife to shut my hunting down.

Both of my own sister's husbands used to hunt but do not anymore. One used to be a taxidermist in Grand Junction. I don't get it.

I wake up in the morning and think about hunting. I count through my favorite calibers and extoll their virtues to fall asleep.

It just doesn't compute that someone would stop hunting, especially if they have the means to do it.

My father, and grandfather's and uncles all hunted. Or most of them hunted anyway.

My paternal grandfather killed a bull elk with a 45 LC Col model P in his 30's when my dad was a child. Dad hunted all over the west, he killed a nice buck antelope in September turns 80 in a few days.

I have 4 daughters, my 2nd oldest will probably hunt. She is interested, and I am taking her on a javelina hunt with me in January. The other two are not interested, but they are very little. Maybe things will change.

All of the men in my family hunt. A couple of the women do occasionally. I took my mom hunting (truck hunt) and shot a deer when she was in her early 80s. She shot her first and only deer in her late 70s.

Joyce has a cousin that Deer hunts but that is about it. She always accompanied me on hunts and can pack meat as good as most men.

She didn't start killing her own game until Africa.

Her Father, still alive WWII Vet at 98, blew up a picture of her with a Moose she killed about 5 years ago. It was always the first picture he showed visitors. Big Grin

Most of her family respects her self reliance and badass attitude about life in general. They don't care either way about her hunting.

I have a Sister in Law that I am sure is very against hunting. However, she has never given me a hard
time about my hunting as I am sure she knows it would do no good. My wife did not grow up in a hunting
family but fully supports me hunting and has killed elk, kudu, impala, and a wart hog.

Now that I think of it I do remember my sister in law buying my son a Bambi stuffed animal for Christmas
(or his birthday) one year as a joke. We were sitting around and he came up to it with his toy gun and
start to pretend he was shooting it. We got a good laugh out of that.....

Big Grin A buddy of mine when deer hunting a few years ago saw this great buck so he shot him + then noticed that he had a bell + ribbon around his neck + off in the distance he heard small children calling "Frosty, Frosty". I asked him what he did + he said, Hell, I gutted it out + left the ribbon + bell on the gut pile. Those idiots would have wanted to bury it. I told him, Doug, although I agree to a point, you take coldness to a new level.
