I've always used Protex on my mounts, but wondering if there's something else that's less volatile and stinky.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

I just dust them occasionally and keep them out of direct sunlight.

Mineral oil is supposed to be good for keeping elephant ivory from drying and cracking.

My oldest mount is only 37 years old though.

I live in a dry climate, so I just take a slightly damp cloth and wipe down everything once or twice a year. (Go with the grain).

Makes my elk mount, smell like it is in rut, but that goes away after a couple of days.

I was told by a taxidermist to occasionally wipe my ellie tusks with mineral oil to keep them from drying out and cracking, but I haven't so far.
