Can someone state with reasonable scientific certainty which one of these processes is the best for long term mount life. Alum seams to get bad mouthed for long-term life on-line, i.e. more then the hunters life time. And synthetic as too new. Thanks.

Have mounted 10,000 trophies with Alum Tan for over 35+ years....NO ISSUES. If it aint broke don't fix it...And used the same tannery for all of them.

The shelf life on a synthetic tan is suppose to be longer. I use a alum tan on all the mounts I do. When I do rugs or tan only hides I use a synthetic tan. Both done by the same tanning company.
