WesheltonjAlum v. Synthetic
Can someone state with reasonable scientific certainty which one of these processes is the best for long term mount life. Alum seams to get bad mouthed for long-term life on-line, i.e. more then the hunters life time. And synthetic as too new. Thanks.

That's who has my hides and why I was asking. Went with the Alum tan, hope I made the right choice.

The Artistry of WildlifeHave mounted 10,000 trophies with Alum Tan for over 35+ years....NO ISSUES. If it aint broke don't fix it...And used the same tannery for all of them.

chuckmaxmanThe shelf life on a synthetic tan is suppose to be longer. I use a alum tan on all the mounts I do. When I do rugs or tan only hides I use a synthetic tan. Both done by the same tanning company.
