Last paperwork hurdle overcome. CITES needed to be sure Chacma baboons are not endangered! Ha, ha. (Well, when Pamela is around a few are.) Hope the crate will arrive before or after England trip to see my nephew married. Holding thumbs...

Not even at DSC. Travis Wright does a lot of hunts but I wouldn't trust him with anything important. He left the box with my item "four hours away somewhere." The taxidermist and I made a plan for a fiberglass replacement in case Travis doesn't eventually deliver.

That's damn sad.

I've had so much trouble with shipping and taxidermists I no longer bother with it anymore. Got tired of fighting for my stuff. Tons of lost $$$.

.

Starting to think that way too Ann, especially after our ibex disaster.

Maybe quality pictures on the wall is the way to go in the future and spend the money saved on new hunts! Never thought I would say / write that but times are changing and taxidermy is becoming so expensive to the point that it is starting not to be value for money for me when the mount costs all-in more than the hunt of the animal itself!

Fiberglass replica made, courtesy of Taxidermy Africa in Humansdorp, off a large male. When in hand, should be finally right.

Cool mount, I like it. The only snag after years of hunting Africa is my current wait for a Bontebok. 3 years of applications sitting in South Africa; CITES money paid, USF&W cashed my check, emailed confirmation and nadda. Bontebok docs are in my shippers hands (Landowner letter & DNA report). Still, no permit.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
