Magpie mount?

From the research I've done, magpies are federally protected.
But surely there are some mounts done before they achieved that status. Would they be legal to buy?
I'm thinking about a bird perched on a limb, wings folded.
I see them all the time and admire them. Think one would look great in one of my bedrooms with a western flair.

Anybody know where I could find one? I want to be legal, and think there must be a grandfathered mount out there somewhere...

Magpies are protected, are you surea about that one? Here they're on the list of vermin. I agree thought they are a gorgeous bird and would make a cool mount.

I always think that if we didn't have magpies and they were an exotic species like a parrot etc. people would pay big bucks for them as pets. They look nice, can be trained to talk and are smart as hell.

I still like shooting them though!
