Hi there
I am looking for some plaque shape/size ideas for a Warthog I shot in RSA last Year. I've already decided on Railwood, as I think it gives a nice contrast. The shape of the skull relative to the plaque is what has got me asking questions.

I wanted this one very simple and tried doing it "as it is". Bleached & complete. This is what it looks like in my study ...

I like it and it is the cheapest taxidermy job I have ever had done!

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

I like what Bahati did, you don't need anything but the skull, they set nicely on a table top.

Cut your wood out in the shape of africa like I did. A short dowel into the back skull and a little time with the dremel tool is all it took.

jshoney,

That is a good idea, but I think you could set that "hawg" on top of anything and it would look good! Dang that's a big piggie! Same goes for Arild and Bahati.

Thanks Wendell,

As you know, being from Texas, every animal on a typical Africa plains game hunt could be taken right here in Texas EXCEPT the wartie. It was truely my top priority in South Africa and I couldnt have been more excited to see this one running toward a water hole.

When anyone sees this one trophy, they know I have been to Africa.

Great warties guy!! The wife convinced me to have mine shoulder mounted, but the next one I get (if I'm fortunate enough) I really want a skull mount.

Why can't you can do both from one animal. It's my understanding that artificial teeth in the shoulder mount is preferred to avoid splitting.

You could use the reproduction tusks in the skull mount or the shoulder mount. There is not too much of a worry with splitting of the real tusks if the hollow is filled with firberglass resin, epoxy, etc..
