I plan to try salting/tanning the tide next time I kill something. I have a couple of questons: 1. I read where it said not to use iodized salt. Other than cost, why is that? 2. Any particular kind of salt. I would tend to think rock salt. How about water conditioner salt? | ||

Go to a feed store or a tractor supply and buy a bag of fine mixing salt 4-5.00 per 50lbs. It's better not to use rock salt I like the finer grain better. Make sure your skin has all of the red meat and fat removed. Salt with the skin layed out at an angle so the fluids can run off and not pool on the skin. Shake it off after 24 hrs and salt again.
