I just got the quote from my taxidermist in Polongkwane (Pietersburg). $4.00 US per kilo. Together with the extras, such as fuel surcharge, export fee, etc., etc., I'm looking at a number just slightly south of $4,000. Ouch! Does anyone have experience in ocean shipping? | ||

i brought a bunch of stuff back a couple years back had good success with it cost was about 1/3 of air and it took 30 days to get here. ocean was 3500 and air was over 10,000, but it was a lot of stuff. it has to be mounted stuff though, capes they won't take by ocean. (I tried because of the weight of ele skin) | |||

Previously, you could only ship completed (mounted) trophies via Ocean cargo. As of last week, Fauna & Flora can accept raw skins, hides, capes and horns via Ocean freight. Air takes around a week to arrive. Ocean takes about 30 days but is shipped in the original crate in water tight containers. This will save you $$ on shipping, so check with John at F&F on shipping raw items via Ocean cargo.
