Brown Bear Rug
Not to be presumptious of success before I even go on the hunt, but I am looking for a good taxidermist who has experience doing brown bear rugs. Location is not really important, as I don't expect shipping to be a big cost issue on a rug and skull. But experience matters, I want someone who does a lot of bears, and can help with decisions like backing, flat or mounted head, etc. Any suggestions?

Contact our own Mary H-Kruger in AZ. She isn't called the "Rug Lady" for nothing. Her Husband Chris will do the head work. You can find Mary's link on this forum.

Knight's Taxidermy in Anchorage Alaska does a ton of them. They did mine.

Any professional studio should be able to do their own rugs. At my studio we do all services in shop but the tanning and have for the last 36 yrs. Check out the web site if you would like to see the rates.. Good luck, they are fun to hunt, if the weather is nice..... patriot

Yes, most full time studios can also do thier own rugs, thier own tanning, make thier own forms, make thier panels and custom wood bases and on and on, and sometimes we do. BUT we also can and most often do wholesale out these items to someone who specializes in them like Mary or a supply company, etc. and we get back an excellent job with excellent turn around. This frees us up to specialize in what we are best at. Nothing wrong with that; it is just good business management.
