My last years hunt trophys are finally on the move from Namibia and will go to the taxidermist here upon arrival. As part of the shipment I have TWO waterbucks that I shot and am considering a double pedestal type mount of both of them, to have something different than just 2 standard shoulder mounts, save some wall space and have a pedestal mount of one(2) of my African trophies. I have not seen anything like this at any outdoor shows recently, or anywhere else, the closest ive come is seeing some double deer mounts and I have a few pictures of those. So what I'm looking for is if anyone else has ever done a double pedestal mount of first a pair of waterbucks, second a pair of similiar sized african animals or any other animals. My plan is to have a base habitat piece made for these which I can then set upon (and fasten too) some cabinetry (free I might add) that I have a good lead on and serious chance of getting. Ideas on pose turns, height of one in relation to other, etc are all open. These are both male waterbucks. I just want something a little different and I really want to get both of these waterbuck mounted and by doing them together I don't think I'll use as much space for display purposes as opposed to separate wall shoulder mounts. Fire away. Willi

Look in 'Trophy Room Pictures', "Cape Buffalo pedestal mounts" for a couple buffalo double pedestals, then take it from there. MJines has one. _______________________

Look at the web site of the Artistry of Wildlife (you'll find their link in this forum). Dennis Harris has mounted many African dual and triple pedestal mounts. There are pics in his gallery. Here's a double Caribou mount my taxidermist and I did a few years ago. He did the taxidermy and I made the oak base. NRA Endowment Life Member

buffybr, thats pretty cool looking, thanks for the pic. Ive been looking on the internet and the site that L. D. Keith mentioned and have found some interesting pictures of double mounts and made copies/print outs as needed and have some pretty good ideas on what/how to proceed with my waterbucks if and when I finally get the trophies, which are currently in London awaiting some sort of "vet" inspection there, tho Im confused by that since nothing is staying there, but rather supposed to be coming to Seattle for eventual delivery and pickup by my taxidermist.
