Stay far, far away from Richard Hurd, Hurd Custom Taxidermy, Dolores, Colorado.

This guy is basically unbalanced. After taking my final payment 3 months ago by telling me my buck was done, he disappeared. Does not return calls, answer phones, answer certified mail, or ship my deer.

He finally answered a call when I used a friend's phone. Guess he was scared to talk to me. Proceeded to dress me down, reasons known only to him in his tin foil hat. Whatever Dick.

There are too many quality taxidermists and honorable people who want our business. Mr. Hurd is a waste of breath. If you value your time, dollars, and trophy, drive right on by this guy.

And tell a friend.

Frank,

I do not know yet. Local attorney recommends suit. He has spoke to 3-4 hunters with the same issue.

We will be hunting Colorado's third season again this year. Will drop by his shop in two weeks, for a more personal discussion.

Here is a photo of by buck, soon to be on a milk carton

Beautiful muley......either this clown is(or is going)out of business and doesn't care, or he will be soon enough. People don't realize the power of the internet these days. Good luck getting your mount. And please keep us updated as to the final outcome.

I was wondering what happened to this guy. I worked with him at Woodbury's (in Texas) years ago and after he left I heard that he had a shop in New Mexico. I guess he moved across state lines.

Jack, have you posted this on taxidermy.net? Get the word out. Contact the CO taxidermist assoc., and the NTA. These guys need to be closed down. Best of luck with it.
Regards,
David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
