My lion just got to my taxidermist. I thought I'd make a rug but the taxidermist says it is skinned in such a way that I could make a full mount.

Positions would be either lying down like the Sphinx or sitting down like a dog. Any opinions?

Anyone know how much such a finished mount (no base) would weigh in case I have to move it?

Don't have him roaring or snarling, just a happy to be here look is nice.

I'd do either one, they both look nice.

If you had 2 you could book end them around some really ornate doors.

Weight should be around 150-200 pounds with a base. About 100 without it.

If I had two I wouldn't be able to afford the doors. Big Grin

One of my favorite relaxed, baseless lion mounts was done by AR member "sculptor" - James Marsico. James posted this a while back and I hope he doesn't mind me reposting it.

Thanks, all. But the wife got the prices so it's gonna be a rug with the head lifted up 3-D.

Thanks Mary. Dan Herring and I mounted that and worked together along with a whole lot of other AF trophies for a Staten Island N.Y. Client. That has been over 20 years ago aready!
