Wolf hunting poll.

The following poll is a general question directed, mainly, at the western and upper-midwestern states where wolf populations are considered to be healthy and strong.

Question:
What are your views on wolf hunting?

Choices:
All wolves should be shot on site!
A wolf hunting season would be alright.
Nuisance wolves (or areas with nuisance wolf problems) should be shot or trapped by landowners or Game Wardens only.
No wolf hunting at all.

I think the wolf population should be a tightly controlled population with liberal seasons.

There should also be a shoot on sight provision for persons protecting property.

With those two harvest strategies, the wolves be never be endangered in the lower 48 again and will continue to expand their range.

Like it or not wolves are here to stay. I think the population should be mangaged at the lowest possible census.

Seems like an odd poll, a couple of your options seem reasonable to me and are not mutually exclusive.

A shoot on sight will still allow for pack growth as most are seldom seen. An article in the Butte Standard last week said most of the recent wolf deaths in Yellowstone are by other wolves, ie the packs are getting to large and their territory too close resulting in turf wars. Gianni

A liberal hunting season allowing all wolfves to be shot that above the Federal levels set in 73 . That means only 350 wolves in wis. leaving lots for us to shoot.

Yeah, gosh durn run-by maulings in Montana! Wolves in the hood! They needn't have planted them anyway. We always had wolves around in NW Montana as far back as I can remember when growing up. We always hoped they'd develop an addiction to mutton.

Should be an annual season: resident tag $5.00, Non-resident tag $6.00 (we'll spend a $1,000 in town, twice that on guides). Furs can be tagged (to please the G&F) and all meat donated to the PETA crowd (People that Eat Tasty Animals)

Wolfs should be like mountain lions here in Texas.
You can shoot them 365 days a year, day or night.
NO closed season, No Bag Limit.

Pretty sad what counts for the hunting public these days. My guess is that Leopold would have wondered why he ever bothered given what's become of the modern "hunter".

Brent,
A few anti wolf red necks will make some noise on here but look at the poll, most are reasonable "hunters".
