Would like to tap into the knowledge base on the forum - what state would give me the best opportunity for a non-resident rifle hunter to bag a mule deer and antelope. Bucks good, but not necessarily required. My priorities are:
1. Ease and cost of license acquisition
2. DIY hunting
3. Public land availability.

Would like to do it on my own, on the cheap, on public land. Live in northern MN and have always wanted to go west or southwest to do this hunt.

Thanks.

Wyoming.....but you're too late.
In NM, the goats are good but they have separate seasons from deer.

Wyoming may not be too late as they often have tags that are left over and can be bought in July. I would call them or check the website for leftover tags.

WY. Deadline was March 15th. You might get lucky and find leftover Antelope tags (after July's results) but doubtful on DIY Deer tags.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Reduced price doe tags go on sale the 15th of august in the area you want to hunt if you don't particularly want a buck. For leftover tags you have a 10 day window in July and I remember correctly from the 10th to the 20th. HTH
