Not much to see until you get to Idaho... except for Yellowstone park (take an overnight there), badlands south dakota, Lead and the Black Hills, Devils Postpile, Tetons, (all drive-bys), and the obligatory drunk in Jackson Hole. Have a good trip. Jameister

The Custer Battlefield is worth a stop. Also if you go through Cody the Buffalo Bill Historical Center is excellent. Jeff

I would second the stop through Cody and the park!!! Then Take HW 287 back up to the interstate. You'll easily kill a day on that trip. If you have another day to kill and depending on where you are hunting, probably the best ride IMO through MT is HW 83 along the Swan river and circle through Glacier. Where at in ID will you be hunting?

Quote: What the...??? Plenty to see and do on your way through if you have a few days to kill. Site in your rifle on p. doggies on the way through S. Dakota or Eastern MT. When you run out of ammo, go to Cody and pick some more up. If you can't find p. dogs, just walk some BLM land and try to smack a few jack rabbits. They'll often stop at about 50 yards. I've seen TONS of them this year, a veritable herd of them in Billings last weekend. Try for channel cats on the Tounge or Powder. If you want to, go see the Custer Battlefield where an idiot paid for his arrogance with his life and the lives of his troops. I've always driven right through, not much to see. Always wondered who tried to make him into a hero. If you want to learn about real generals in the other battles, please read "Plainsmen, the History of the Yellowstone Basin" before you arrive. Definitely see the Museum in Cody, you'll not be dissapointed. Go to Red Lodge from Cody and drive up the Beartooth Highway. Awesome. Fly fish the upper Madison or Yellowstone, or the BlackFoot. Just a few thoughts...

It is vacation after all. I'm real interested in shooting some praire dogs, if any one help steer me that way I'd be much ablidged
