In a Senate vote tonight, Tennesseans right to keep arms in a state of emergency or disaster passed 32-0. The 2nd Amendent is alive and well in our State. The Governor had wanted to maintain a law which gave him the power to confiscate all guns during times of emergency or disaster. After Hurricane Katrina all States should heed that lesson.

Out here in CO we had a backstabber for gov. gave him lotta hell after his promises were side stepped. He straightened out far as I know.
Last election we had a chance to elect a NRA rated A+ but, too many Californicators have moved to CO so they voted in an anti now.

So far, he hasn't made any moves, but, we're sure as heck watching him and he's gonna catch royal lashing when he does pull his stunts. Just hope there's enough of us to knock him back in place.

I am glad to hear this -- especially that the vote was unanimous.

The founding fathers knew better than to rely on their leaders having our best interests at heart - they knew power corrupts. Politicans and the press hate the NRA because we pay attention and we read the fine print.

Thats great news! but whats truly sad is that such a subject came under a vote, when would we need firearms if it wasnt in a disaster?????

I was following this too and this is GREAT! But what are the chances of Bredesen being replaced. He gets allot of the vote each time?

Thanks everyone. That being said, our Gov hunts!?? He hosts dove hunts, goes out west for Elk (I am told, don't know it for a fact) and hasn't made any moves to take our guns otherwise. I guess he fears anarchy, but I fear the mob and gangs more. Even N.O.'s Police was shown on national TV looting stores after Katrina. Can we believe that! I won't point any fingers but we saw what we saw. This is a direct slap in the face to all the honorable men and women of N.O. PD that risk their lives everyday to protect the innocent. Now riddle me this Batman....how the hell does the Louisiana public come back and re-elect Nagin as Mayor? When the Chit hit the fan, he was snug as a bug far away...leaving his citizens behind while hundreds of parked school buses were flooded. Now I admit that many of those "left behind" stayed for one reason: looting, killing and robbing. I have a solution for that but we'll leave that to law enforcement...if only there had been any. Most had enough sense to get out. Category 4 or 5 Hurricane means one thing: get the hell out....NOW! Our President's advisors reported this. Repeatedly. But Mr. Bush not only was constantly bashed in the media, there were those that blamed him for "conjuring up the Hurricane." Tennessee is a fine state with a sensible legislator. Tell me, do you have a castle doctrine law on books? If not, you should get your politicians on to that issue as well.

Congratulations to Tennesee and the other states that passed similar legislation. I don't think it will happen with the weak and fearful subjects here in the southern New England states. I can see a change coming about in AZ, slow but sure, as more and more city people move to the SW. I hope it doesn't happen here as well but I'm afriad the Pheonix area is growing fast with too many liberals willing to give all their rights away in the name of "crime/terror" control. Too bad every state doesn't take a strong stand like Tennesee against these weak, stupid solutions.

I don't expect an answer, but who doesn't have a sealed PVC pipe with a legally aquired firearm, coated with grease and a good supply of weather-sealed ammo buried somewhere that the goons can't find? A Ruger .22 with 2000 rounds of ammo and a few 20 round magazines doesn't cost much, btw.

We all think it...we whisper amongst ourselves. None of us are happy with the direction our country is going. Is there any President (parties aside for the sake of discussion) that has big enough balls to stand up against the media, the ACLU, UN, and the spineless slugs ruining OUR country with more BS than an Elephant can eat in a week? If so who is it? The Antichrist? I find it sad that more and more written in the Bible is finding its way into our lives. Scary thought, but we all know its coming. Do nothing about any of this and then turn around and elect another group of liars. Anytime we get a good man/woman in office, how long is it before they're in the "good ole boyz club" and it's business as usual: screw the public while stuffing yer pockets full of money. I'd lay odds we could pick the entire US Government straight off this forum and do a hellofa lot better job than we've received from our elected officials over the last 40 years. Gun Control? Are you kidding me? We give them one inch and they come right back taking 40 miles and your first born child. Our forefathers are spinning in their graves.
