For those who were concerned that a Federal Judge would over turn the wolf hunt and keep them on the ESA list, great news! We might not have won the war, but we won this battle. The Idaho hunt goes forward.


BREAKING NEWS: Judge Molloy upholds constitutionality of wolf delisting.

(MISSOULA)- Wolves will stay off the Endangered Species List, at least for now, after U.S. District Judge upholds the constitutionality of Congressional action taking the wolves off the protected list.
Some environmental groups wanted Molloy to overturn the May decision, saying lawmakers h...ad violated the Separation of Powers Doctrine.
But in an 18-page ruling issued this afternoon, Molloy rejected the plaintiff's claims for summary judgment and backed the government's position. That leaves the question of long-term ESA protection for Idaho and Montana wolves in the hands of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals

Its about time. I will be hunting wolves this winter.!!!!!!!

From a source talking to the IDG&F, they estimate there are now 9,000 wolves loose within the State. That's 9,000 too many. Good hunting chaps!

I've seen wolves as far south as southern colorado. I think that there are more wolves out there than people realize.

9000 in idaho???? and 30k of us only managed to kill around 180 in 09????

I think the number is closer to 2k or less.

Ive been wondering how many there are in Utah by now, havent heard much for quite a while but there were sightings only a few months after their re-introduction not far from the SLC area, so I expect we too have a considerable pack here.

I wonder if they would respond to a coyote call? Ive got a great 257 AI load that Im sure they would "respond" too..

That figure was given to a friend by someone within the game department. For those who don't live within the center of Idaho wolf territory, you would be stunned if you saw what these apex predators have done. My outfitter is on the ground everyday. Last week their mule was killed in their own back pasture. Trail rides the week before saw carcasses rotting and moose cows with not one single calf. As for CO, yes, they are there now and spreading. 9000 may sound like a lot, but when our G&F estimated 50,000 coyotes in TN, they stopped counting. I have them in my yard now; saw one this morning across the river and we can't begin to count them all. Back in the '70s, we never saw or heard about them. Shoot those wolves boys, or you won't have any game left to hunt. LDK

Oh, by the way, in case you haven't heard, the greenies now want wolves released in ALL areas they once inhabited and they wanted them protect from the west to the east coast.
